Minor League Update Bisons blown out by the Redbirds
Buffalo 3 Memphis 15



It’s our first minor league update of the season, and with only the Buffalo Bisons in action, it was an eight-run first inning for the Memphis Redbirds that pretty much spelled game over at that point.

The Bisons did get two runs at the top of the first, though, thanks to a Michael Stefanic single that scored Steward Berroa and Jonatan Clase. Memphis’ eight runs were keyed by a Jose Barrero single that scored Cesar Prieto to tie the game at two. The flood gates opened on the Bisons after that point.

The Bisons did manage another run in the top of the second, but the Redbirds added two more in the bottom of the second to make it 10-3.

The Bisons and Redbirds are back at it on Thursday with game time at 7:45 PM ET

Ouch. That sucks for a start. Looking at the box I see Clase was 2/3 with 2 walks - nice. Orelvis 0-3, 1 BB 2 SO - not so nice. Barger at SS? Tirotta at 3B/2B? Thank goodness they called up Lucas instead of Estrada (2/3 IP 5 H 8 R 6 ER 2 BB 2 SO), Will Robertson had to pitch the final inning - and was more effective than starter Estrada (1 IP 1 R) ouch.

I didn't add three stars this time because I didn't see much to do so.

When I have a full slate of games next week I hope to see some better performances.

Thanks Brumfield. That's actually huge news, I thought Wentworth was going to end up fast tracked as a reliever since he started in Vancouver.

From the box scores we can't see the D of our minor leaguers. This causes me to judge only on the hitting which has led me to overvalue Orelvis for example. Hope his D improves.

I feel Barger may be better in the OF due to his suspect IF defense and he is on his last option. Schreck plays only the OF so hopefully his D is good. So far his O is v good bb/k rate, incredibly strong arm and SBs. I have high hopes for him moving fast.
