Whoops!

I gosh darn forgot my first Minor League Update of 2025. It's been well-covered in other posts but Jake Bloss and Tommy Nance had tough outings, thanks in part to four errors as the Bisons lost by an unconverted touchdown. Dillon Tate and Eric Pardinho were the only relievers to emerge unscathed on Tuesday. Jonatan Clase had two hits, a walk and two steals. Addison Barger and Joey Loperfido had a double and a single apiece but Barger committed two of the four errors at third base. Ali Sánchez homered and walked.

Extra Innings

The Vancouver Canadians begin their season with a nine-game road trip on Friday. You can find a rundown of the 2025 roster right here.

Apologies for the late MLU. I'll try and do better the next time.

It happens!

I once missed a class I taught. Tumbling timetable, end of month, two odd numbered days in a row. Luckily I had understanding students!

Khal Stephen getting the opening day nod for Dunedin.
Van Eyk getting the opening day nod for New Hampshire. Guess they're giving him one more shot to start.

Yesavage isn't scheduled to start in the opening series.

Khal Stephen starts his pro career as well as can be, striking out the side in the first inning - six whiffs on fourteen pitches.

The rest of the start went well too. Stephen 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. His fastball averaged 93.6 (touched 95).

Shaw getting a homer and having two EVs over 100 is nice to see. Adding any semblance of power to his profile will make him more interesting. They seem to be giving him run at 2B again; he was drafted as a 2B but only played three games in 2023 before they moved him to the outfield.

I was hoping the Jays would give Jennings more run as a starter, but he has a chance to be a really good reliever. Fast track potential this year.

Yes, it was announced in the offseason that Shaw was indeed moving back to 2B.

I've always found Jennings to be more interesting as a reliever. If they just leave him there, I believe he might be able to get more up to 97-98 mph.

An ok start for Stephan but the top three hitters also averaged 19 years of age, younger than most of the players he faced in college...

Great game by Stephans. Didn't like the way he looked earlier but who knows with pitchers. Vancouver seems like easily the most interesting place for prospects right now. Other levels have their guys but most of the Vancouver lineup is worth following.
