*** 3 Stars!!! ***

3. Orelvis Martinez, Buffalo
2. Nick Goodwin, Vancouver
1. Will Robertson, Buffalo

Notes

Will Robertson putting the ball over the fence three times and added a double to cap off a five-RBI night. Orelvis Martinez went Viva Las Vegas twice with a single and a walk to reach base four times as well. Phil Clarke had two hits. CJ Van Eyk gave up four runs, all of them unearned, over five innings to get the win.

Jace Bohrofen went yard for the eighth time this year, drew a walk and stole a base and Cade Doughty had a pair of hits. Ryan Watson rung up nine batters over 6-2/3 innings of two-hit ball. Hunter Gregory got the final seven outs for the save, working around three hits.

Vancouver had just one hit in seven tries with runners in scoring position but that one was huge! It was a good win for the C's thanks to Nick Goodwin, whose second homer of the day with two outs in the ninth turned a one-run deficit into a two-run win. Goodwin had a three-hit night. Gabby Martinez doubled twice and Jackson Hornung is now hitting .324 by adding a double and a single. Arjun Nimmala added a base knock. Khal Stephen put his name in as an early candidate for Northwest League Pitcher of the Week honours by surrendering just two runs (one earned) in six innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 11. Yondrei Rojas, Julio Ortiz and Aaron Munson put up goose eggs with Ortiz getting the win and Munson collecting the save.

Tucker Toman and Kendry Chirinos capped off two-hit nights with the ninth-inning game-tying and go-ahead RBIs with two outs in the ninth. Bryce Arnold had a hit and a walk. Colby Holcombe needed 69 pitches to get through 2-2/3 innings, giving up two runs while allowing three hits and four walks and striking out two. Eliander Alcalde stranded two runners for Holcombe and pitched 1-1/3 scoreless innings. Johan Simon, Eminem Flores and Jack Eshelman put five goose eggs combined with Flores striking out five for the win. Eshelman got the save.

Nick Sandlin pitched a shutout stanza with a walk and a strikeout. Will Wagner had a walk in three plate appearances. The F-Jays had just four hits.

For the Do-Jays Blue, Cristopher Polanco had a double, single and walk while Daniel Dominguez had a triple and a free pass. Michael De La Cruz struck out five of the six batters he faced over two perfect frames for the win. For the Red squad, Luis Felipe had a three-hit night with a double. Nestor Urbina doubled and singled.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but KLaw a week ago put up his 2 months in Top 50 update.
Nimmala #37, up from #71 preseason. One note: Still at SS and is at least an average defender there.
Yesavage #47, up from #96 preseason. One note: Been 92-96 with a wipeout splitter, a pitch with such unusual movement Statcast calls it a cutter.
Also listed 13 other players beyond the Top 50 that he considered, one of which was Khai Stephen, with a much-improved changeup. Almost as good as Yesavage, just hasn't missed as many bats.

BA also did their June rankings update. Nimmala up 17 spots to 41, Yesavage 89, Tiedemann 92.

Dahian Santos, Brennan Orf, and Gavin Smith added to the full season injury list.

Schreck has indeed been called up to Buffalo.

Trenton Wallace has been suspended... not sure what for.

Now they say Wallace has been activated. Maybe he threw at someone or cussed out a coach.

About a week or so ago I argued that Will Robertson had improved his profile significantly and was at least close to earning a look. The only wrinkle was that his actual power production had dipped - well, it's safe to say he's ironed out that wrinkle.

He's profoundly blocked here, but perhaps would be useful to one of the rebuilding teams.

Schreck just homered in his first AAA at bat (107 mph exit velocity, 368 ft).

Getting closer and closer to having that legit young and talented AAA lineup (aside from the catchers).

* CF Clase 23
* RF Schreck 24
* LF Roden 25
* 3B Wagner 26
* SS Jimenez 24
* 2B Martinez 23
* 1B Nunez 24
* DH Loperfido 26
* C Bethancourt 33

* UT Tirotta 26

It'll be interesting to see the roster koves when Santander and Varsho are back.

Jays corner Of depth is pretty good. In fact, the quality and the depth is mostly pretty good with the one massive exception of starting pitching. Starters probably hardest commodity to find. It feels like next year this time, the Jays could have a number of options. Manoah obviously but feels like Yesavage, Stephen, Tiedemann, Macko, Rojas could all be options by then. Macko might be back before long. He's pitching in FCL still but I expect him to move up soon and if he's healthy, he should be an option in Toronto for something.

Vancouver Canadians media advisories say Gabby Martinez is heading back to New Hampshire and Hayden Gilliland returns to the C's from the FC's.

Pinango goes 2 for 2 with 3 walks, with one of those hits being a 3-run HR in the 9th to get the bisons within 1.....but the rally ends there.

Honestly, if the Jays needed to field a team of only left-handed corner outfielders, they might be able to make it happen soon.

I like seeing Schreck in CF. I honestly think both him and Roden are athletic enough that they could handle the position given enough time.

Pinango's home run was 109.5 mph and 448 feet. Seems like both him and Schreck bring legitimate power potential. Curious to see what they do with the corner OF log jam in the upper minors/Majors if those two continues to rake in AAA.

I think Roden could play CF like Luke’s could play CF. Which is to say they can probably do it occasionally but not the best long term idea.

C     Varsho
1B     Loperfido
2B     Wagner
SS     Barger
3B     Lukes
LF     Roden
CF     Clase
RF     Schreck
DH     Pinango

This is a pretty severe reconstruction since 2022, when the top 8 players on the team for PA were all righty batters.

Overcorrecting is part and parcel for our FO.

We've all gone to the grocery store and forgotten to check what's in our fridge beforehand. Sometimes you accidentally end up with 16 litres of milk.
Jonny German - Thursday, June 05 2025 @ 04:15 AM EDT (#460992) #
Careful, you might strain something stretching so far to see the lefty depth as a negative.

Turns out the team didn't get rid of the good righty bats in acquiring lefty options.
Glevin - Thursday, June 05 2025 @ 08:56 AM EDT (#460996) #
Clase is switch but you can add Robertson in instead. Jays are absolutely going to have to do something about this glut though. Really don't like how Jays have handled Roden back so far. Killing the ball in AAA so they bring him up and he sits for 4 games with 1 PH ab before getting 2 abs in game #5 before being lifted. Lefty on the mound so I'm sure he'll sit again today. I know it's crowded but still seems like creating a situation where it's near impossible for Roden to succeed.
uglyone - Thursday, June 05 2025 @ 10:15 AM EDT (#460997) #
Maybe they think handing Roden fulltime at bats from the start didn't work, so this time they're going to try and ease him in selectively.

Anywyas i don't this is a 'glut' to worry about just yet. Let's hope we get a couple of legit quality starters out of it.
