New Hampshire wins, Dunedin’s run total looked like a football score, Buffalo's lost, and Vancouver used the home run
Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians (53-45) beat the Tri-City Dus Devils 10-5 Wednesday on the strength of an Arjun Nimmala homer that kicked off the game and two homers from Alexis Hernandez.
Hernandez got his first two dingers at the High-A level in the top of the 2nd making it 3-0 and then he added another in the sixth.
Carter Cunningham added his 12th dinger of the year in the 7th.
Vancouver and Tri-City play the third game of their series today at 7:05pm PDT.
Buffalo Bison
The Bisons were tagged for five third inning runs in their 8-3 loss to the Syracuse Mets on Wednesday as Hayden Senger’s three run shot started the inning.
Omar De Los Santos then added a two run shot to make it 6-0 Mets and that all but sealed the game for Syracuse.
With the loss, the Bisons fall to 40-60 on the season. Buffalo and Syracuse play today at 6:35PM ET
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats were in the news this week when Juaron Watts-Brown was traded to the Orioles as part of the deal that brought Seranthony Dominquez to the Blue Jays bullpen.
Having followed Watts-Brown from his days in Dunedin writing for Batters Box and witnessing his final start in Vancouver this year, I was sorry to see him go as he was moving up the chain.
On the field, Chesapeake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Wednesday’s but the Fisher Cats scored five runs in the next three innings and then two more in the seventh to make it 7-4.
Jackson Hornung at first base in this contest had a run and two hits and how has a .311 average to go with his .876. OPS.
New Hampshire and Chesapeake play today at 6:35 PM ET.
Dunedin Blue Jays
The Dunedin Blue Jays lost their first game 18-11 Wednesday despite scoring nine runs in the fifth.
The Lakeland Flying Tigers had five in the third and another 8 in the eighth inning.
Dunedin won the 2nd game 8-2 which was a makeup of a July 3rd cancellation.
