NOTES

I thought this would be a fast, ready to hit, no walks, lets all get out of here game, but not quite. It was almost a three hour contest. Walks played a big part in the game. In the fourth Paxton Schultz walked a pair, one of whom scored on a ground ball. The Bisons run came from a bases loaded walk, their third walk of the inning. Six walks for the Bisons and just four hits.

Easton Lucas went three scoreless innings. Schultz gave up the two runs. Ryan Jennings didn't get off to the best start in AAA but he has settled nicely. Over his last six appearances totaling 7.1 innings, he has 16 strikeouts. Its not all good, he has given up nine hits and walked six. If he can tighten up his command a bit he could still help out the major leagues next season.

That is the end of the minor league updates this season. Thanks for reading and commenting. And thanks to #2JBrumfield and Golden V for contributing each week.

Thanks for the MLU's.

Thank you and the rest of the minor league writers for keeping us up to date all year. A shame the clubs flopped so badly but at least there were exciting prospects to follow almost the entire year.

Thanks for the enjoyable reading everyone. Will continue to read BB daily.

I echo the sentiments above. Thank you to all the MLU for doing the summaries so that we can get a overview of what happened.

I liked the way the Jays used the FCL & FSL for injury rehab. I was not impressed by either team even though the FCL Jays are the champions. I liked Aldo Gaxoila also the SP prospects that dominated from FCL, FSL, Vancouver.

I'll add my thanks to the people who take the time to provide the minor league updates. Much appreciated!

It might end, but we still have the AFL debuting October 7th.

We got Bastardo, Kasevich and Edward Duran to keep an eye on, along along with 4 relievers who got promoted this year.

Thanks to all the MLU writers for the daily updates. I seldom comment, but appreciate the work done to keep us updated on the players and prospects who may one day grace our screens.

IF Jimenez (24): 71pa, 15.5b%, 18.3k%, .386bip, .304avg, .071iso, 133wrc+
OF Schreck (24): 234pa, 16.2b%, 20.9k%, .281bip, .242avg, .194iso, 128wrc+
IF Stefanic (29): 442pa, 13.3b%, 10.0k%, .308bip, .287avg, .096iso, 122wrc+

Schreck slowed down a good bit towards the end there, but still a very good line. Not quite good enough to demand a promotion tho, but right in the mix at least.

Really a write-off year for Leo due to injuries, but he still managed to look as good as ever in the brief time he was on the field.

IF Rivera (24): 394pa, 13.5b%, 31.5k%, .337bip, .226avg, .104iso, 85wrc+

Nothing remarkable here but also all mostly interesting too.

Clase and Pinango the ones with the upside here, but maybe nothing spectacular.

Strugglers

OF Jimenez (28): 215pa, 10.2b%, 17.2k%, .289bip, .247avg, .100iso, 82wrc+
C Valenzuela (24): 105pa, 11.4b%, 30.5k%, .276bip, .207avg, .163iso, 76wrc+
1B Palmegiani** (25): 167pa, 10.8b%, 28.1k%, .231bip, .159avg, .072iso, 57wrc+
IF Kasevich (24): 114pa, 11.4b%, 17.5k%, .213bip, .173avg, .010iso, 33wrc+

Eloy Jimenez continued to do nothing after signing with the jays, and unfortunately Valenzuela wasn't very good either.

The most dissappointing is Kasevich, who managed to get a non-insignificant amount of playing time in despite the injury, and didn't do anything at all with it.

In the end, this wasn't a very encouraging year for the hitting prospects. Not disastrous, but still hitting the end of the year without being able to say "wow, that's just a great year" for even one hitting prospect.

The Jays' system is now dominated at the top by pitching prospects, even after trading Rojas Stephen and Watts-Brown.

What Yesavage, King, Stanifer, and F.Perez all had imo more exciting years than any of the hitting prospects, and we can look forward to Tiedemann and Bloss rejoinging that group next year.

A bit funny that Schneider, Barger and Loperfido were nothing special at AAA but solid performers where it counts.

Opposite for Jimenez, Roden, Wagner.

true, but then again all three of Schneider Barger and Loperfido had already shown the ability to handle AAA before this year (and gone on to then struggle in mlb in other promotions).

A few final Jay leaders for minor leagues... 200+ PA for rates
  • Elaineiker Coronado: 346/504/383 in DSL (top average & OBP) 17 years old, 2B/SS/3B
  • Will Robertson: 292/403/578 (top Slg%) now with White Sox in 20 G for them has hit 157/189/176 - sigh, hoped he'd do better
  • Juan Sanchez: 2nd for Avg/OBP/Slg, 341/439/565 in DSL at age 17 RF/LF/CF, only one to crack 1000 for OPS over 10+ PA
  • RJ Schreck: best still here for OPS while playing outside DSL 249/395/459 age 24 RF/CF/DH/LF (AAA/AA/A/Rk - he and Yesavage built up the frequent flier miles)
  • SB: Dasan Brown 36-4 in AA/AAA but 'hit' 174/285/260. At age 23. Sigh.
  • HR: Sean Keys: 19 in A+ at age 22, but a 217/365/408 line at 3B/1B/DH, also led in RBI with 72 and walks with 86
  • 3B: Victor Arias in A+ at 21 had 7 272/353/403 in CF/DH/LF with 18-5 SB-CS.
  • 2B: 29 for Arjun Nimmala (19 SS A+), and Yohendrick Pinango (23 LF/RF/DH AA/AAA)
  • Yohendrick Pinango also led in hits (117) despite his 258/361/430 line. His playing in an organization high of 131 games helped.
  • Nimmala led in R at 70, while hitting 224/313/381, but also led in GIDP with 16, but had the most PA (543) in the organization.
  • Diego Arce & Rafael Flores in DSL led in HBP with 18 each (in just 39 & 44 games!)
A few interesting little facts for the hitters. You always see a few oddities with the leaderboards each year, some guys we'll never hear from again while others will make it to the majors at some stage.

MLB's 2026 International Top 50 Prospects

https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/2026/international/

30. Michael Mesa OF Dominican Republic 16 6'2 195 L/L 12/17/2008

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 50 | Arm: 45 | Field: 45 | Overall: 45

David Ortiz is arguably the greatest left-handed hitter to hail from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but the capital city has also produced All-Star Juan Soto and former top prospect Samuel Basallo. A gifted lefty batter in his own right, Mesa has since moved to San Cristóbal to train with Jaime Ramos – a member of MLB’s Trainer Partnership Program – but was born in the DR’s most populous city and could wind up being its best hitter in the ‘26 class. He’s known as a hard worker away from the field, one who maximizes his already considerable skill set.

Working with a clean bat path and a good bit of loft in his swing, Mesa makes a ton of hard contact. He has long arms, and while there’s some wiggle in his set up, his power plays as above average when he gets his leg kick on time. Mesa showcases the type of “whippy” swing that evaluators often think could lead to even more extra-base prowess as he continues to refine his approach.

A left-handed thrower, Mesa is a no-doubt outfielder as he gets his pro career underway. He takes solid routes to the ball and should have at least an average throwing arm in time, but he’s likely to be bumped to a corner outfield spot as his physical frame fills out. He might not be a burner on the basepaths but he can glide when reaching his top speed and has the look of a possible 20/20 contributor as a big league regular if everything pans out.
