RJ Schreck homered twice to help Buffalo win the first game of their doubleheader. Game two didn't go so well. Blaine Bullard is very hot right now, his home run was the difference in Dunedin's win. Johnny King had the worst start of his career and Vancouver lost. New Hampshire were rained out.

Jake Bloss pitched well for four innings for Dunedin in his third rehab start. It is hard to predict the path of pitchers recovering from Tommy John. Its easy to see a jump up to Buffalo for his nest start, or he could remain in Dunedin to build up to five innings.

Buffalo 6 Syracuse 4 - game one

Buffalo 0 Syracuse 1 - game two

Hartford at New Hampshire - postponed

Vancouver 6 Spokane 7

Fort Myers 2 Dunedin 3

Three Stars

Third Star - Alexis Hernandez

Second Star - Blaine Bullard

First Star - RJ Schreck

NOTES

RJ Schreck dominated the first Buffalo game. He went deep twice, a solo shot in the first and a three run home run in the third. He also walked.

Grant Rogers went five innings, three runs, two earned but only one strikeout.

The Bisons had only two hits in game two, both singles. Syracuse had only three hits but one of them was a home run off starter Austin Voth, the only run in the game. Schreck was 0-3 in game two with two K's.

The Vancouver game was an offensive battle, in contrast to the second Buffalo game. Johnny King had his first nightmare start. He didn't get out of the first inning throwing 33 pitches, just 14 of them were strikes. His first pitch of the game was deposited over the fence, that might have spooked him. He then went walk, single, walk, single, double. After getting an out he hit a batter and walked another and that ended his game. Lesson learned? On to the next. Holden Wilkerson didn't pitch well either. Spokane had seven hits in four of his innings.

The bats had a better day with ten hits. The hot Alexis Hernandez singled and doubled. JR Freethy doubled twice, Hayden Gilliland homered and singled and Tucker Toman had two hits.

Blaine Bullard hit a two run home run in the sixth inning to give Dunedin a lead they would not relinquish. Dunedin had just three hits in the game, Bullard had two of them. The home run was measured at 106.2 mph. Over his last 20 games Bullard is hitting .313.

Jake Bloss went four innings in his third rehab start. He struck out five and gave up one home run. He topped out at 97 mph.

Checking AAA I see they are trying out McAdoo at 2B and 1B now, giving Kasevich some 2B time too. Schrek all 3 OF slots, mostly RF/CF. Clase almost all CF (13 innings over 2 games in RF). Seems McAdfdo, Kasevich, and Schrek they are trying to figure out if they can be useful backups at multiple positions. Clase has been hitting so poorly that he has no future unless something changes soon (on his last option and I can't see the Jays calling him up unless the OF goes through what the rotation has).

Enmanuel Beltré goes unsigned
The Dominican prospect and his camp rejected the maximum offer of $150,000, understanding that his value was much greater.
Beltré will not sign as an international free agent and will head to the United States to finish high school and aim to be selected in the MLB Draft.

Enmanuel Beltré, victim of the decisions of those around him 😳
In 2022, an MLB team offered him $1 million dollars; however, his father rejected the offer, thinking that over time they could get more money.
The problem?
The prospect market fell, and the offers kept decreasing until reaching a final one of $150 thousand dollars, which they also rejected.

Wilber Sánchez @wilberdata

The scouts turned their backs on him
After his brother Manuel Beltré signed for $2.3M, Enmanuel's father wanted to personally handle his process, and that's when the conflicts began.
The area scouts, the famous “Trujillo” crew, realized they were being sidelined, and the situation ended up getting even more complicated.

Signing now for $150,000 is not convenient for their representatives after the great investment made over years.

do we have any idea if McAdoo or Kasevich have any notable platoon splits?

BA Hot Sheet

8. Nolan Perry, RHP, Blue Jays
Team: High-A Vancouver (Northwest)
Age: 22
Why He’s Here: 1-0, 0.00, 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 SO, 0 HR
The Scoop: The Blue Jays’ No. 16 prospect, Perry has been on fire all season. After beginning the season at Low-Dunedin, he was promoted to High-A Vancouver. He hasn’t slowed down a bit after the promotion, as he’s allowed just one run over his first three starts. This past week, Perry hurled a gem at Spokane, tossing five scoreless and striking out 10. Perry has returned fully healthy from elbow surgery that kept him out for all of 2025, and he looks like a prospect who will continue to climb rankings. (GP)

"do we have any idea if McAdoo or Kasevich have any notable platoon splits?"

No imbalance worth a deep dive. McAdoo has been better vs RH but not bad at all vs lefties.

Kasavich has been better vs RH this year, but was better vs LH in 2024 (I'm ignoring the injury year)

re Keegan's report:

Buffalo now shows Gallagher the (presumably) opener tonight, not Van Eck. Not sure the relevance of that.

(I, for one, am entirely unimpressed by Van Eck)

Van Eyk is more in the Bassitt mould.

Nolan Perry tonight:

6 IP 4 H 0 R 1 BB 8 K

He's now had 21 IP at each level, with a lower ERA and a better K rate in Vancouver and has yet to allow more than 1 run in any outing.

I don't know how long they're going to wait to push him to AA but A ball hitters are not worthy of him.
