TSN is reporting that the Blue Jays have released DH Frank Thomas.

Not one starter on the farm went five innings yesterday and only one went as long as four innings. Regardless, the affiliates went 3-1 and the one starter who went longer than four innings was the one who had the outing to forget.

For the third night in a row Syracuse were the only winners on the farm.  Russ Adams had the hot stick for the Chiefs.  Scott Campbell had three more hits for New Hampshire.  Gus Chacin was bombed again.

The Jays begin a four game set tonight against the suddenly slightly less awful Detroit Tigers at the Rogers Centre. A old rivalry is renewed, and the stakes are... well, not really that high.

Miguel Tejada, the resurgent (.328/3/11 in '08) Astro shortstop, is -- by all accounts -- 31 years old. But it turns out that, due to a little intentional "miscalculation" on his part back when he signed with the A's in 1993, come May 25, he will turn 34.

The question is, regarding this two-year gap in Miggy's life ... do you care? Should anyone? And what did you think of the TV spot where Tejada was, as one online columnist put it, baseball's equivalent of "Punk'd"?

The Jays continue their struggles at home; despite receiving a fine outing from Roy Halladay the offense could only manage 1 run and the good doctor took the loss.

The affiliates withstood another ugly night as only the Chiefs could pull out a win.

David Purcey, the Jays first round pick in the 2004 draft, has been called up from Triple A Syracuse.  Reliever Brian Wolfe has been placed on the 15-day DL with a right triceps strain. 

Only one win on the farm Wednesday and unusually it is the Chiefs who record it.  Jorge Velandia's two run home run in the eighth was the winning blow.  Davis Romero and John Parish pitched well in the win.  New Hampshire and Dunedin were easily beaten as starters Brandon Magee and Reidier Gonzalez took the losses.  Lansing lost although Justin Jackson had four hits.

I was in Fort Myers last weekend to see the Dunedin Jays take on the Minnesota affiliate in a three game series.  Game recaps have already been posted so I will not cover the games but instead provide a scouting report on some of the players.  I also received updates on several players from other teams which I will add to the bottom of this story.  Finally don't expect to see Gustavo Chacin in the big leagues any time soon.
