No, they're not in the same picture together.

I was in a Coffee Time searching for some appropriate Gilmore Girls season premiere junk food (don't worry, I time-slipped it and watched it after the Jays game), and what did they have on the shelf? A wonderful, wonderful doughnut. Unlike the other doughnuts in the store that had professional-looking plaques, this one had its name written in black marker on a piece of masking tape at the front of the shelf: BLUE JAYS. Needless to say, I bought it and photographed it for your entertainment. Oh yeah, and then I ate it while watching Gilmore Girls.

But today's real picture is of Troy Glaus, by request. See if you can figure out which picture is which:

Aaron Reynolds uses Pentax cameras and lenses, eats doughnuts and watches Gilmore Girls. It's all true.

RE: Gilmore Girls.

Since the Season 6 DVD came out a couple weeks ago, I've watched approximately 88 trillion hours of that show.  Give or take.  I'm told its payback for making Hannah watch 88 trillion hours of Quincy, M*A*S*H, McCloud and Columbo, but I can't possibly see how.

Anyhow, very nice donut!

Gilmour Girls

At first I was going to respond by saying "Dear Lord". Then I read Pepper's comments and now I'm really in shock. Surely not the majority of bauxites watch Gilmour Girls...right? Poll question? :P

Coffee Time

Dear Lord.

Poll question?

Good idea, VBF. It's done. Should be interesting.

Gilmore Girls is exceptionally well-written, filled with densely-packed references on top of references.  It's the kind of humor that can keep me giggling for days.

Unfortunately, the husband and wife team who created the show and wrote all the best episodes have left.  First episode of the new season wasn't bad, but it wasn't vintage GG, either.

As to the Coffee Time, you take what's at the end of your street.  I sure as hell don't drink their coffee -- I got Mrs. Hank a Gaggia Carezza for her birthday.

+1 Gilmore Girl fan here.  I thought the season opener was great, even without the Palladinos writing/directing.  This is probably the last season though..

I've seen every episode at least 5 times.  Some more.

It's one of the few "girl" type shows of Hannah's that I can watch without feeling ill.  The writing is really, really good and I really love all the music references.  Plus I do like how they don't make the women in the show superheroes and the men drooling idiots, like on a lot of shows thay have a significant female audience.

But generally speaking I don't watch or enjoy shows made before 1980, for reasons I don't entirely understand myself.

We own the first five seasons, though we've only made it through the first two on DVD.  We didn't start watching it on TV until midway through the second season, so we're only just getting into watching stuff for the second time.

I really appreciate that the show understands that the hilarious supporting characters are only hilarious when they're seen in small doses.  Too many shows find a funny character and then push him out front and start revolving episodes around him until he's just not funny anymore.

Err.. that should say

Television peaked sometime around the NBC Mystery Movie, IMO.

I know what you mean about Gilmore Girls.  Most shows would have given Kirk the "Urkel" treatment, but fortunately GG uses him in small enough doses to be tolerable.

Great poll topic, NFH!  This almost makes up for you not showing up in 518 for the home finale to say hi.  :)

Before, I would watch the occasional show for 5 to 10 minutes just to look at Lauren Graham before finding something else to watch.  However, after buying the missus the Season 1 DVD last Christmas, I decided to watch the pilot episode one night because I had nothing else better to do or to read and you can only re-read Baseball America so many times.

It's really a funny show.  I just finished watching Season 3 so I'll probably get Season 4 once the World Series is over.  And the fact that Luke once pitched in the minors makes the show that much cooler.

I guess this really clinches it for you not coming back to 518 ever again :)

I honestly felt I was less than a man for admitting I like the show before but it's a funny show, it really is!

Coffee Time - Dear Lord.

Agreed about Coffee Time, but I don't blame NFH for getting the "Blue Jays" donut.  I would've too in that situation.  That's the right call there.

Okay, sorry for all the posts, I better get back to work.  This site is the number one reason I never get any work done :)

I am shocked and dismayed.

Oh well, I'll wave from 102!

And while we're on that topic, and off-topic for that matter if the Pass doesn't come back, get a flex pack in 102. All of you :)

Of course the other top quality "chick" programming that some guys may be ashamed to admit they like (or may not have tried out yet) is Veronica Mars.  I recommend both.

Brumfield, season four is without a doubt the very best one.  Was the Christian Rock Band subplot in season three?

Was the Christian Rock Band subplot in season three?

Yes, it was.  Another interesting fact about Season 3 was the finale was supposed to lead to a spin-off show with Jess (Milo Ventimiglia, who will play Rocky Jr. in Rocky 6 this winter) and his dad (Rob Estes) when Jess left for California.   For whatever reason, the show never got off the ground.

Good thing the hole was in the donut and not in Glaus' swing.  What a bomb he launched tonight! Monroe in left field hardly moved.

I think I read that the Jess show never got off the ground because it was too expensive to shoot on location where they wanted to shoot it.

Thankfully, Sherilyn Fenn ended up back on the show as someone else.
