Sean Reid-Foley made his Dunedin debut and even 16 innings couldn't deliver a winner. Anthony Alford and Rowdy Tellez led the offense. New Hampshire won behind Murphy Smith and Ryan Schimpf. Buffalo split a doubleheader, Joel Pineiro pitched in game one and Miguel Castro conceded a three run home run in game two. The Bisons won that second game. Lansing lost with three ninth inning runs breaking a tie. Vancouver's hitters took the night off. Matt Morgan had a bad day as Bluefield lost wasting seven good innings from 18 year old Dalton Rodriguez.

Buffalo 0 Scranton 4 - game 1

Joel Pineiro made his first AAA start of the year and results were mixed. He did pitch seven innings and didn't walk anyone. But he did give up ten hits and four runs. The offense only managed four hits.

Buffalo 6 Scranton 4 - game 2

The Bisons got on the board in the third inning. Facing ex-Blue Jay Esmil Rogers the first four hitters of the inning reached, two singles, a walk and an error by Rogers himself. Andy Burns singled in a run and two came in on ground outs and it was 4-0 Bisons. After Scranton tied the game the Bisons rallied in the seventh. Ramon Santiago singled, Matt Hague walked, Luke Scott doubled and Andy Burns had an RBI groundout.

Randy Wolf was on the bump for the Bisons and he pitched 5 innings with one run allowed. Miguel Castro relieved Wolf and gave up a 3 run home run to tie the game. Castro actually got the win after the rally in the seventh. Chad Jenkins had 5 base runners in two innings but he escaped both jams. Rob Rasmussen got the save.

New Britain 3 New Hampshire 5

The Fisher Cats jumped out for three first inning runs. Dalton Pompey walked, Jon Berti singled, Dwight Smith reached on an error, Kevin Nolan delivered a sac fly and Ryan Schimpf doubled in two more. Jack Murphy and KC Hobson doubled back to back in the fourth to make it 4-1. Schimpf singled in Smith for the fifth run in the seventh. Smith and Schimpf had two hits each to lead the offense.

Murphy Smith made his debut for the Cats and he went five inning with all three runs allowed. Dustin Antolin and Wil Browning each pitched two shutout innings.

Dunedin 1 Lakeland 1 - 16 innings, suspended

Rain suspended this game in the 16th inning and as you can tell from the score, hitting was in short supply. The Jays outhit the Tigers 12-8 with Anthony Alford and Rowdy Tellez having three hits each, Alford scored the only run, Tellez had the only RBI. Richard Urena was 0-6 and his average is down to .313.

Sean Reid-Foley had his first start in high A and he pitched well over five shutout innings. He only gave up 2 hits, 2 K's and most impressively zero walks. Jeremy Gabryszwski conceded the only run in six innings. Brady Dragmire went three innings and Alberto Tirado two.

Lake County 8 Lansing 5

Lansing jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but the Loons tied it in the sixth and scored three in the ninth. Conor Fisk started and gave up three runs, Tim Mayza gave up two in relief. Jose Fernandez took the loss.

Jason Lelblebijian led the offense with two hits including a three run home run. Chris Carlson had two hits.

Vancouver 0 Eugene 6

The offense had just two hits, both singles by Juan Kelly. Francisco Rios and Bobby Wheatley were both hit around for three runs.

Burlington 3 Bluefield 1

Bluefield outhit the Bees 10-5. Unfortunately catcher Matt Morgan had a bad day. In the first the Bees scored with two singles tied around a throwing error by Morgan. In the fifth two singles and a passed ball by Morgan led to run number two. And in the ninth Morgan's error allowed the lead-off hitter to reach, and he ultimately scored on the fifth single. The hard luck lower was 18 year old Dalton Rodriguez who went 7 innings. He was charged with two runs, one earned on four hits. He had just one K but recorded 12 ground ball outs.

Half of the hits came at the top of the order, Rodrigo Orozco was 2-3 and scored the only run and Andrew Guillotte went 3-5 with the only RBI.

Three Jays on Baseball Prospectus Midseason Top 50 prospects list: 9. Norris, 18 Hoffman, 25 Pompey.

They mention Hoffman could turn into one of the best pitching prospect in the game if he's not already.

I'm actually surprised that Anthony Alford didn't make Top 50. Definitely would be a top 100 with the way he's been playing his first full year of baseball. Good to have 3 Jays amongst the top 50.

On the subject of prospect lists, bbref's player page minor league stats also show their historical BA and BP pre-season rankings.

Both FG and bbref agree on our 4 most valuable position players this season - Donaldson, Bautista, Martin and Pillar. As prospects, those 4 were ranked by either publication exactly zero times.

Ryan Schimpf dominates in AA, plays all over the field and makes me think he might be a Danny Valencia type -  yet he can't hit a lick in AAA.  like, not even close to the Mendoza line.  anyone know what his issue is?

Thanks hypobole for the info on the rankings. I do not put much faith on these rankings. They have disappointed me too often.

Matt Boyd returned to Buffalo and didn't carry last week's outing with him.  Some baggage is better left behind.

Yup nice to see Boyd put a nice pitching line together to get the W tonight.

In fact if Boyd didn't struggle in his first call up to MLB I'd be more concern as his pattern would then be broken. In fact I fully expect him to put up video game like numbers in MLB next year LOL...as long as the Blue Jays don't trade him.
