There will be no prizes, or points, for guessing the identity of this months 3 star selection leader. Ryan Roberts was the leader for May. You might have a tougher time guessing who the joint second place finishers are.

The April month end report described how we accumulate the points. If you read the minor league updates you know that each day we select the three minor league stars from the night before.

May

1st Place - Ryan Roberts - 16 points

The three star selection process favours big performances, games that grab the attention of the selector du jour. Ryan Roberts has big games. On May 23rd Roberts hit two home runs and a double. Two days later on May 25th Roberts hit two more home runs. Finally on May 31st Roberts made it a hat trick of two home run games with two more taters. Not to say the rest of the month was bad. Roberts had five other multi-hit games and, as his reputation spread, walked five times in one game on May 26.

In May Roberts had an OBP of .397 and a SLG of .515.

2nd Place (tie) - Aaron Hill - 13 points

was pushed up to AA by the Jays to start the season. This was an aggressive move by the Jays as Hill was getting ready for the college world series this time last year. To be promoted to AA so quickly was a challenge. Hill had another challenge, he grew up in California and went to school in Louisiana. He was not ready for the joys of a New Hampshire April. Two things helped turn around his May, first the weather warmed up and secondly he had a visit from DaBox. Hill improved his OPS from 590 in April to 746 in May. Unlike Roberts he did not have a few huge games, rather he had a very steady month. When he did not get a hit, he usually walked. By my count Hill reached base in 28 out of 31 May games.

2nd Place (tie) - Scott Dragicevich - 13 points

Give yourself 30,000 points if you guessed this one. Dragicevich had a hot four days to propel himself to third place for the month. On May 17th Dragicevich homered in both ends of a double header. The next day he went 2-5 with two doubles. On the 19th he was 2-5 again and on the 20th he went 3-5. In five games over four days Dragicevich hit 10-25, or .400, with 2 doubles and two homeruns. When he is not being selected as a game star Dragicevich played some first base for Vito, some third base for Tablado, and some DH.
