I decided to pull together a couple of rooting necessaries for those watching Team Canada's games from Athens, and reproduce some terrific photos from the IBAF (that's the international baseball federation, by the way). Enjoy!

First, the good stuff... no fan should be without the Official Baseball Canada 2004 Olympic Team Media Guide. Also, there's a handy one-page roster in case Vic Rauter starts calling everyone "Guy Hemmings".

Now for the good stuff... the IBAF (www.baseball.ch) is kind enough to allow us to reproduce some of their fine photos here. All photos are copyright of the IBAF and are reproduced by permission.

This last one's not Canadian, but I couldn't resist... Italian leftfielder Jim Buccheri goes up HIGH to steal a homer from Japan's Kazuhiro Wada

That's an amazing picture of the outfielder climbing the wall for a catch.

Maybe it's the shadows but it looks like the Italian player is wearing plastic spikes.

That photo is so ridiculous it almost looks airbrushed.

Buccheri is at least 4 feet off the ground. I guess he leaped and dug his spikes in to climb the walll? Nice timing too.

If memory serves, Buccheri was an Expos prospect at one time...

Wow, Buccheri must have climbed a piece for that one, unless he's got a David Thompson vertical leap.

I'm assuming a jump, grab, and boost from the wall... if you look, he is actually leaning on the wall.

Anyway, it looks totally cool.

Does anyone know where you can get a Canada baseball jersey. Not sure if Baseball Canada offers one.

If they don't, they should. A good little fundraiser, that.

COMN Joel.

Thanks for reminding me - I thought the same thing after the Taipei victory. Will make for a nice birthday present.

Nice. They have golf shirts. I know what Dad's getting for Christmas now. :)

Ivanon Coffie showing why he couldn't last in the majors. Apparently he has no idea where second base it.

Great photo of Buccheri.

I thought maybe Ron let Cherry pick the suit. I miss Ron's Mr. Rogers sweaters...

haha, nevermind this isn't the winter olympics, bring back the striped sweaters.

Thanks for the link. I see you have to call for official jerseys. I heard a while back they weren't ready for demand. Of course I could use one next season too, to go to the ball park.

You're sure that's not one of those 'scale the wall and pose with the ball in your glove like you just made an over the wall catch' shot, right? ; )

Is it just me, or does the Buccheri picture look like a Nike ad in the making...?
