Jim Turner of the fine website Toronto Baseball Guys is putting on a get-together at SkyDome along with the York Baseball Association. Take it away, Jim!

Greetings Bauxites,

When I'm not dissecting baseball online, I'm a coach and convenor with the York Baseball Association, a very fine youth league in the city's west end. Each year, we have Blue Jays ticket sale, and as a reward, our Rep teams get two hours of precious field time at the SkyDome. It's quite something to see an 11-year-old hit a gapper and then realize how far apart those bases are.

This year, our players were a little optimistic about their sales numbers, and have returned a number of tickets. I thought this might be a great opportunity to get some die hard Jays fans together, and the Batters Box guys have graciously agreed to grant me this forum.

Here's the deal: I have a pile of tickets for the Friday, August 27th, 7:05 game against the New York Yankees. We get to sell $37.00 tickets for $20. It's all the fun and discount frivolity of ticket scalping, but it's completely legal!

The following seats are currently available, and more may become available:

Section 128, Row 24, Seats 6-10
Section 128, Row 28, Seats 103-107
Section 128, Row 29, Seats 105-110
Section 128, Row 30, Seats 5-9
Section 129, Row 41, seats 101-107
Section 129, Row 42, Seat 3 (for you lone gunman types)

The crowd should be a good one with the Bombers in town, so if you'd like to support your local youth league, and have a good seat from which to give Derek Jeter what I like to call "The Verbal Huckaby," please post here and email me at jim@torontobaseballguys.com. Please specify how many and which tickets you'd like. Hopefully, we can get a good number of Bauxites out to the game.

For game night, I will be stationed outside of gate 11 by 6:00 to hand off tickets. I'll wear my Las Vegas 51s hat and have a sign reading YBA/Batter's Box - or something to the effect - in the interests of user friendliness.

Thanks,

Jim - TBG, and yba.ca

Thanks Jim! Hopefully a number of us can get out and enjoy some discounted seats and good old-fashioned (gentle) rowdyism. -Craig

Thanks to Craig and Batters Box for letting me post here. Let's see if we can get a big Bauxite turnout. Aaron, maybe you can bring the drum down to the 100 level.

Who needs tickets?

If that could be arranged (the drum) it would be a grand idea.

First we'd have to find Mike, the drummer, who's been MIA lately. If he's coming I can ask about bringing it down. Are the majority of tickets around that area with your group?

My group and whoever they sold tickets to. So a lot of young ballplayers and kids who generally like noise.

Yo Peeps. I start work in the downtown T Dot on Monday morning, so I should be around for a fair bit of games starting next week.

I'm totally game for the Yankee's series and I'll have the drum.

That is all. Transmission complete.

I've dropped a line to a few people, asking for permission to have the drum down in 128. It could be problematic if people around the drum decide they dislike it, so it might be a good idea to check who else would be around the drum and ask them what they'd think of it.

Hmmmm. Well, I mentioned to our league president last night that I'd posted here about the tickets and told him that "we might even have a guy with a drum," to which he gave me an uneasy smile and an "oh good."

We'll only have 200-300 tickets in that area, which figures to be rather full with the Yankees in town, so even if everyone in our section was for it, there'd be enough people in the general vicinity that it still might annoy. Of course, if they're Yankee fans, I'm all for that.

You'd probably have to be more judicious in the use of the drum in a big crowd, than up in the 500 level. Maybe reserve it for big rallies, which, if the last couple of weeks are any indication, might mean a really quiet night at the Dome.

I'll open this up to the other Bauxites. How would you feel about sitting in the percussion section of the SkyDome? Would occasional use of the cheer club drum prevent you from attending a game?

We've had people complain, even in 518. They're usually relocated to another section in the upper deck, but that can't really happen in 128. ;)

We'll see what they say -- at worst, if they provisionally approve it and then people complain, then we can always move it back up to the cheap seats.

Hey guys.
I'm gonna be at that game. I'm taking the new Fast Ferry over that afternoon. I hope to hear as much noise from 128 as possible!
If Yankee fans are anywhere near you, I'd say bang on the drum all night!
Is anybody here going to the Saturday game too?
Friday I have 1st row of the 500 level even with 3rd base. Saturday I have 1st row of 500 even with 1st.
Hopefully Vernon will go deep to win the game like the last time the Yanks came to T.O.

Hey, your Saturday tickets are in Cheer Club territory! I'm going to try to make all three games.
