You could say I lost my faith in the people on TV
You could say I'd lost my belief in our politicians
They all seemed like game show hosts to me

Hey, two wins in a row! The Jays scored early & often and Dave (don't call me David) Bush pitched another strong outing for the win.

Perhaps the Jays last two poundings of Daniel Cabrera will cost him the Rookie of the Year award, similar to two years ago when they knocked Rodrigo Lopez out of contention.

* Recaps:
Jays repeat, soar over O's - Fordin
Jays batters tee off on O's - Ryan

* Notes:
Waiting on the rain - Fordin
How low will the Jays go? Team could hit 100 losses - Ryan
Blue Jay Watch - Rutsey

* Quietly, Carlos Delgado is back in the groove. Over the past month Delgado is hitting .305/.410/.663.

* Mike Ulmer gives an update on Tom Cheek who is done with his cancer treatments.

* Richard Griffin endorses Bud Selig's extension until 2009 saying that Selig 'cares about the fans'. Personally I'm in the camp that says that Selig 'cares about the owners profits above all else' as Dayn Perry wrote in his article Selig's continued reign is bad for baseball.

You make the call!

* Today's Game - The Jays look for their first road sweep of the season. Justin Miller faces lefty Erik Bedard. Game time is 1:05.

Everyone's favorite former SS prospect, Felipe Lopez, is hitting pretty well lately, hitting .343/.425/.643 after the All Star break (albeit in 70 ABs).

Looks like Lopez is Stinging the ball...

How does Griffin give Selig props for "presiding" over:

c) the Cal Ripken record streak, d) the McGwire/Sosa home run chase

That's like saying "... in his favour, Jean Chretien did preside over Mike Weir's Masters win."

Somebody help me out here...

If I Ever Lose My Faith in Lopez again, call the police, or better yet sting me with an "I told you so". I know, lame.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe RG thinks that wouldn't have happened without the wild card.

Who is Tom Creek?
_Mark J - Sunday, August 22 2004 @ 12:13 PM EDT (#40617) #
According to Lee Sinins' Sunday stat package, the Blue Jays now have precisely one player (Menechino, 11) with above-average Runs Created.

Even the Brewers (Overbay, Branyan) and Expos (Wilkerson, Vidro) have two players with positive RCAA & no other team has just one.

Tom Cheek is a Jays radio broadcaster who has been on the radio since the Jays were in existence and never missed a game until this year

Tom *Creek*, on the other hand "rises just northwest of Smithson Valley in central Comal County (at 29°49' N, 98°20' W) and flows northeast for 8½ miles to its mouth on the southwestern shore of Canyon Lake, on the Guadalupe River near Startzville (at 29°52' N, 98°16 W). Along its course are two small lakes, one of which is dammed, and it crosses an area of the Balcones Escarpment characterized by steep slopes and limestone benches that give a stairstep appearance to the landscape. Soil in the area is generally dark, calcareous stony clay and clay loam with rock outcroppings, and vegetation consists primarily of live oak and Ashe juniper woodlands. Since the completion of Canyon Dam in 1964, the lower reaches of Tom Creek have become the site of lakeside residential developments.", (many thanks to the online Texas handbook)

Tom Creek is in Comal County, Texas, home of former Giant and Cardinal Ray Katt and former Angel Sherman Corbett.

Comal County was also home to the New Braunfels Tigers in the early 1900s, and on of the players on the Tigers was hall-of-famer Dizzy Dean.

You mean this one? Then you're welcome ... my lovely better half and I did that site, or the initial rendition of it, anyway, way back in Spring of 2000.

Pistol, thanks for the links. I agree with you on Selig.
