So the season's end is upon us, with only three remaining home games. Good thing we have stuff planned for all three!

Friday, October 1st we're meeting in "nice" seats for a change -- tickets are still available through Jim of Toronto Baseball Guys.

Saturday and Sunday will be back in our traditional cheap seats, including the Mighty O-Drum in all its Yankee-irritating glory. Now, I'm going to bet that the $2 tickets for those games will make it mighty hard to sit in 518. More likely we'll be in the same place that we were for the last Yankee visit: sitting on the first base side, near the foul pole. You know, the Level of Excellence seats. Just look or listen for the drum, you'll find us.

All three days I'll be bringing my brand new banner:

Any other suggestions? Should Jobu bring the scrubs for the last game? I'd make an INFIRMARY sign or something like that to go along with 'em.

I'll be at the Sunday game for sure. It might be hard to meet up, I believe that I'm in 511. I'll look for the banner.

For the last game, you need a Delgado sign. Something along the lines of "come back Carlos." You can probably come up with something better/more clever. :)

alsiem, you're near where we'll probably end up. Don't worry.

Ryan, how 'bout CARLOS: STICK AROUND?
_James W - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 12:09 PM EDT (#29864) #
It may be nitpicking, but it also could be important: Doesn't the rotation set up so that Doc pitches on Saturday, with Lilly pitching the finale? Thus, the scrubs should be there on the 2nd?
Named For Hank - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 12:15 PM EDT (#29865) #
You could be right, James. I thought I read yesterday that he was pitching the finale, but it was late at night. ;)

What about

Carlos: Thanks for the Memories

Or is that too pessimistic?
_Ryan Lind - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 01:48 PM EDT (#29868) #
Too pessimistic. I don't want to concede to him that he'll be leaving. I want to ask him to stick around instead, you know?

Is something like "Toronto loves you" too...uh...flowery? ;)

Do you guys really want the scrubs? The only time we brought them out Roy got beat up, and then went on the DL for 2 months before he could start again.

That's a good point. We need a fan club that will protect the Doc.

I suggest

The Malpractice Lawyers!

P.S. 18 tickets are left for Friday night out of the original block of 60.

How about The Recovery Ward for Doc

And for Carlos...

Hey Mr Rogers, please keep Carlos in the neighbourhood
_alsiem - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 03:56 PM EDT (#29872) #
That is a great sign for Carlos.
_Jobu - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 05:09 PM EDT (#29873) #
Don't listen to Wunderbat, he's talking crazy talk. If you want the scruns they'll be there. As long as we enough people wearing them and it's not just five of us again. I'll be going on Saturday and Sunday so either way we're covered to for Doc's start.
_Jobu - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 05:21 PM EDT (#29874) #

Yikes...the crazy talk is contagious.
_bird droppings - Tuesday, September 28 2004 @ 09:06 PM EDT (#29875) #
I take full credit for getting Doc hurt. But, never the less, I didn't get a chance to wear the scrums so I'm in this weekend.

Tommy.

Friday and Sunday for sure. Hoping for Saturday but it's getting iffy.

Carlos, Come bat!

Any exclamation points in any banners, should always be a bat over a ball, in the artistic sense. It makes for some creativity, even if they are rarely ever used.

Ugh. Can't come friday because oooooh swimming lessons are so f'ing valuable, fun, and useful. Cripes.

Anyhoo - I'm hoping to come out to Saturday and Sunday after my long hiatus and see if anyone remembers me.
_Jacko - Wednesday, September 29 2004 @ 08:54 AM EDT (#29880) #
Please come back King Carlos!
_Jobu - Wednesday, September 29 2004 @ 11:05 AM EDT (#29881) #
Is there some catchy way we can petition him to comeback continuing the "Return of the King" LOTR references? I've never read the books so I wouldn't be the greatest help here.
_Ryan Lind - Wednesday, September 29 2004 @ 04:53 PM EDT (#29882) #
You could do something like...

1993: The Fellowship of the Ring. (World series ring)
2003: The Two Towers (Delgado and Wells)
2005: The Return of the King?

Something like that.
_Jobu - Thursday, September 30 2004 @ 12:21 AM EDT (#29883) #
Not to shabby Ryan. Throw in the picture with him wearing the crown and it's impressive.

Well, gents, it looks like the drum will be limited to Sunday only: I have been gifted with some lovely platinum seats for Saturday and am rewarding our faithful drummer bird droppings for his service and perseverance with one of 'em. And we all know that there's no drumming allowed in the platinums.
_Alex Obal - Thursday, September 30 2004 @ 08:40 PM EDT (#29886) #
After going 0-for-6 the last homestand, I'm rested and ready to go for the home stretch.

I'm definitely in for Friday night in the nice seats (I'm blowing the Fan of the Game prize I won at that game; my picture still isn't up on the site, but that probably isn't such a bad thing.)

But I'm heartbroken to learn that the drum won't be there Saturday. I'm in for sure for game 2, but whether I can make the Sunday contest is up in the air.
_Useless Tyler - Thursday, September 30 2004 @ 11:28 PM EDT (#29887) #
Turns out I'm at a debating tournament for Saturday - so it's nothing but Sunday for me - good thing I'll get to be there for the big drum send-off.
Named For Hank - Friday, October 01 2004 @ 09:44 AM EDT (#29888) #
Sorry 'bout Saturday, Alex...sometimes you just gotta take the platinums when they're offered to ya, y'know?

Jim still has some tickets for tonight for anyone who wants to join in the yellin' and banner-holdin'.
