It's an unorthodox take on an all-Irish Hall of Names team ... but no, sorry, Shawn Green didn't make the cut.

Alas, Mike, believe it or not, Green did not make the list of "Most Common Surnames in Ireland" per our original story's rules.

Besides, you could probably have an All-Bein'-Green team without much hassle, while I'm stuck with a couple of schlubs named John Doherty, one who was an OK pitcher for the Tigers in the early '90s before getting hurt, and one who was a DH who couldn't bit -- a dangerous combination, that -- for the Formerly and Once Again Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim in the mid-'70s.

At least you have someone who can spell their name right.

In major league baseball there has been one Moffitt (Randy) and two Moffetts (Joe and Sam). Oddly enough Sam Moffett, a pitcher who went 6-29 in his career, has the same birthday that I do, with him being exactly 120 years older than I am.
