What a crappy game. Was there anything noteworthy about it?

I can't think of anything. I thought about it for hours and I couldn't come up with anything to say about yesterday's game. This should be a fun Game Report, then.

Since I have no topic for today, let's play everyone's favourite game, inspired by a comment in yesterday's Game Thread. Mike Green said "Hitting the occasional batter is a part of Bush's m.o. He's not afraid to pitch inside to anybody." So I looked up Bush's HBP stats from 2004, desperately hoping to find something to talk about. Here's the best I can do:
Player A: 97 IP 16 GS 25 BB 6 HBP 3 WP
Player B: 99 IP 16 GS 20 BB 6 HBP 4 WP

One of these similar players is Dave Bush. Keeping in mind these are both from 2004, I have two questions for you, my loyal and loving readers:

1. Is Bush Player A or Player B?
2. Who's the other pitcher?

If that's too tough for you, come up with a caption for this picture of Tony Womack going down after Bush plunked him in the second. Please keep it clean, folks. We don't need those kind of jokes with Womack.

How about "Ouch!", "Look Out" or "That Smarts" for a caption? Knowing Dave Bush as I do, I don't believe he was trying to hit Womack. He has more class than that.

{Cue Salt N Peppas hit "Push It"}

Womack: "Who needs baseball when you can... BREAK DANCE!"

As far as the game goes, there is one positive... Shea Hillenbrand hit a meaningless homer. WOOO!!!!

LOL, good one Spicol!

Anyone know who's on the mound today for the Jays and Bucs?

The Pirates (11-13-1) will host the Blue Jays at McKechnie Field on Tuesday. Dave Williams, Pittsburgh's fifth starter, will make his final spring outing. Southpaw Gustavo Chacin is scheduled to start for Toronto.

Good morning, Bauxites.
I have returned from a week in cloudy & rainy Florida where I saw our Jays put up a 4-1 record in the 5 games I attended (and I don't count the loss, a 7-inning rainout in Fort Myers that didn't give the boys a chance for a comeback).

Grand Funk, I was at many of the games you were, including the 7 inning rain shortened one. That rain came on hard and fast, huh?

You slap like a girl, Alex

Just at the Jays official site reading Huckaby's column, which is very interesting. He writes that in 2002, when he was sent down by the Jays, he had basically decided to quit baseball. He felt like he was never going to make it, but then...

Later that day, J.P. Ricciardi called me in and talked me into staying. My gosh, if he hadn't done that, I would've been coaching three years ago instead of being where I am now. I've thanked J.P. a couple times for not letting me quit, for making me stick it out and taking that chance one more time. I've gotten to see a lot of places, meet a lot of people and do a lot of things that I never would've done, if not for that.

It is nice reading stories like this- it really contradicts the belief of some people that the JP regime is "cold and heartless."

Someone help out the curious amongst us! Who are the pitchers? (I have a class to run to, so looking it up isn't a viable option right now ;-))
Nolan - Tuesday, March 29 2005 @ 12:32 PM EST (#107878) #
Well, I remember that Bush pitched 97 innings last year, so I'm pretty sure that Player A is Bush...

...I have no idea who Player B is however.
Nolan - Tuesday, March 29 2005 @ 12:40 PM EST (#107880) #
OK, so I just tried to cheat in order to figure out who "Mr. B" is, but like in most cases, cheating didn't pay off.

There were only two players in 2004 who had 99 innings of work and neither of them started exactly 16 games or matched up with the other stats. Are the stats for "Mr. B" maybe just the player's stats from his starts, which may exclude any of his relief appearances?
Spicol - Tuesday, March 29 2005 @ 12:44 PM EST (#107881) #
Since nearly every question on the Box is a trick question, I'll say that they are both David Bush.

A is Major League Bush.
B is Minor League Bush.

And both are great film titles.

Hey, was I hallucinating when I heard on the radio that the Trailer Park Boys would be throwing out the first pitch at the home opener? It's very possible, I'm wretchedly ill and not in full command of my faculties, but it sounded vaguely plausible.

You might very well have been hallucinating at the time, but I was in full command of my faculties when I read a similar report this morning in the Toronto Star. Nothing like adding a few family entertainers into the mix for Opening Day...

Here is BA's mid-term college prospect list, complete with statistics. We're talking about less than 100 PAs for the hitters, so we won't get too excited about any of the numbers...

Spicol has the Bush question right! Yes, nearly all the questions here are trick questions.

It's part of Bush's annual symmetry. In 2003, he made 14 starts in Dunedin and 14 in NH. In 2004, he had 16 and 16.
