I'm not a huge fan of this little mini-road trip the Jays are doing before the Opener. I can understand that they're trying to emulate the feeling of the regular season, but all this travelling might take its toll on the team.

USA Today, has the score 5-0 in the first, no homers mentioned though.

Has anyone used MLB.TV before? If so how did you like it?
VBF - Friday, April 01 2005 @ 06:39 PM EST (#108637) #
It's Pete Walker pitching. That's 5 runs on 4 hits.

Jays in the bottom of the first

I like MLB.tv It's pretty cool to almost always have some game at my disposal. I can't get the Extra Innings package with my cable.

"I like MLB.tv It's pretty cool to almost always have some game at my disposal."

They claim there's 97% of games shown. Are nearly all of the games shown? I know with Extra Innings, at best, 50% of the Jays games are shown. I'd hate to get it and have the Jays cover most of that 3%.

Also, how's the picture quality if you have a cable connection? Is it like watching TV? How big is the picture - does it take up the whole screen or just a small window?

Thanks.

Too bad MLB TV blacksout Jays home games across CANADA.

I think it's silly when a person living in Vancouver such as myself can't watch the game because of blackout restrictions. It's not like I'm hurting attendance by not going to the Rogers Center.

I wonder if mlb.com will offer a free trial again. I know they had one last season.

The picture quality is pretty good although it can't compare to watching on a regular tv due to the size of the screen.

Ron - I signed up for a free MLB.TV preview that covers April 4th and 5th. The offer came in an e-mail from MLB.com, but I'm sure it must be available through the Web site.

I subscribed to Extra Innings last year, but it only gave me about 75 Jays games. I'm looking forward to the online version, since I'll hopefully be able to see almost all of them.

If the game is on TV and you aren't blacked out you get it. You are blacked out of your local teams (I don't get the Red Sox, Yankees or Mets) - and you get blacked out on Wednesday and Sunday night.

It's clearer in a small window, but if you make it full screen and sit a little farther away it's not horrible.

It's like watching a fuzzy TV. Of course my gf has a 60 inch High Def TV so it's a few steps down from there.

Bottom of 5, 6-1 Reds.

Anything that keeps me from watching YES is a-OK. Tonight Michael Kay announced his prediction that the Yankees will win 108 games. This after Murcer went with 106 and Singleton 104.

Sounds like League is pitching well, retired 7 in a row. 3IP atleast 2k's and only a walk against him. Heading to bottom of 6, still 6-1.
binnister - Friday, April 01 2005 @ 07:49 PM EST (#108650) #
(wow, its amazing how fast this game is moving along)

Bottom of 7 --- Jays bat around, with Gabe(the BABE) Gross hitting 2 HR in the same inning!! CRAZY!!!

8-6 Jays (end of 7)
jsut - Friday, April 01 2005 @ 07:50 PM EST (#108651) #
yes folks, it is still april first.

Babe gets an RBI single, 6-2 end of 6.

Seriously, where can I 'see' the game?

Yahoo says 'game deleted'
MLB scoreboard has the game still in the 1st

Is the 6-2 score legit?
Rios39 - Friday, April 01 2005 @ 08:11 PM EST (#108658) #
i dont know, first i thought it was 5-0 jays then i see its 6-1 then 8-6 jays then 6-2 reds..

*blushes* Sorry, about the 'faux' play-by-play.

Since I couldn't find the game, I thought everyone was making up the game as they went along (a la April 1st Day :) )

To end this bizarro game madness, USA Today's scores say that the current score is 6-2 for the Cincinnati Reds. The game is in the bottom of the seventh.

Maybe in the future they can do those MLB Gameday full screen updates that they have in the regular season, in spring training.

Here's a link to the free preview. To get it, it looks like you have to enter the contest, but that doesn't take more than a minute or two:

Jays out hit them but still get pounded.

According to the latest article at Bluejays.com, Ted Lilly's comebacker he took off his ankle was not as serious as thought and that he was back pitching off a mound the next day.

He will pitch as scheduled on Sunday, April 10th.

MLB TV.com is better than the Extra Innings cable package. For some reason the Jays are not featured regularly on Extra Innings. The only reason I'm gonna take my chances on cable this year is because I didn't fork out the usual $150 for the NHL deal.
