In honor of what I'm hoping will be a terrific matchup tonight between Roy Halladay and the man who makes my baby cry, today's photograph is of the Doctor giving some poor batter the glare:

Tonight's Halladay versus Johnson game isn't even the most compelling matchup in the majors. Check this out:

Chicago (Maddux) at Houston (Clemens)
St. Louis (Mulder) at Atlanta (Hudson)

Way cool.

If you don't mind I would like to post this beautiful picture on a NY Rangers board I frequent..

He's gotta be huge tonight!

Judging from the picture, he's huge every night.

Man, Roy is one big dude.

Dunny, I'd rather you link to this page than post the image somewhere else.

I think Maddux vs Clemens is the first time two active 300 game winners have faced each other since the 1980s... Carlton vs Niekro?

Mulder and Hudson would be interesting even if they weren't both pitching so well, what with their Oakland connection. The combined ERA of Mulder and Hudson is 4.06 - better than Halladay or Johnson by themselves. But that's not even the most impressive matchup tonight. (Although it noses out Greinke vs Sabathia and their combined ERA of 4.08)

I give you Brandon Webb (3-0, 2.63) vs the Amazing Jake Peavy (2-0, 1.30) - combined ERA of 3.93.

Young guns, indeed.

Seriously, can't you just picture Jack Nicholson saying, "Roy Happy-Mother-Freaking Halladay."

I don't know if Carlton and Niekro ever faced each other ... I do know, from when I was living in Ohio, they started two ends of a doubleheader for CLE together and once Niekro went five for the win and Carlton four for the save ...

I would guess Ryan and Sutton or Ryan and Niekro, more likely. Actually, probably Mike Vernon and Patrick Roy are the latest 300-game winners to "face off," but, ah ...

9 innings, 9 strikeouts, 3 hits, no runs.

NFH, when I have my final exams, you must take a picture of me and post it here in lieu of a regular Blue Jay shot.

With the NFH POTW Mojo behind me, I will be an unstoppable machine.
