2 for 2 night on the farm, with the Skychiefs issuing some payback.

Syracuse 13, Richmond 2

Esix Snead has been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing for Monday's attack on David Bush while Bush is considering pressing charges. Nonetheless, the final game of the series was played out and the Skychiefs easily completed the 3-game sweep over the Braves. The 'Chiefs scored early, plating Gabe Gross in the first and then Jason Alfaro and Julius Matos in the second. Then they scored often. A 6 run third inning came as the result of 6 straight hits including 4 homeruns from Chad Mottola, John-Ford Griffin, Anton French and John Schneider. From that point on, all Shaun Marcum had to do was throw strikes, and throw strikes he did. Marcum scattered 8 hits over 7 innings with 5 K's and a walk, allowing only 2 runs for the win. The Skychiefs added on 4 more runs in the late innings just to rub some salt in the wound.

New Hampshire 5, Binghamton 7

Cameron Reimers didn't get much help from his defense as 4 of the seven runs scored were unearned after errors from Raul Tablado and Clint Johnston (2). Eric Kratz drove in 3 with a base-clearing single in the sixth while Ryan Roberts added a 2 run homerun (his 16th) in the seventh. As usual, Jamie Vermilyea and Lee Gronkiewicz were solid in relief.

Lakeland 3, Dunedin 4 Chip Cannon managed to stay ahead of Roberts as the organization's home run leader with his 17th of the year while David Purcey displayed a cannon of his own striking out 9. Purcey allowed 2 runs on only 2 hits but 4 walks in his 5 innings. Joey Reiman was the somewhat accidental hero of the evening. After driving in the tying run in the eigth, he came up with the bases loaded in the twelfth and managed to get plunked by a pitch to score the winnning run. Brad Mumma pitched 2.1 shutout innings for the win.

Lansing 1, West Michigan 2

Russell Savickas was the hard-luck loser in this one as he pitched a solid 6 innings allowing only two runs. The Lugnuts lineup just couldn't get much going as the 8 and 9 hitters, David Corrente and Eugenio Velez were the only two batters with hits. Jeremy Harper threw 2 shutout innings, striking out 3 but the Lugnuts could not mount a comeback.

A couple of notes on last night's games. Justin Miller had his 2nd solid relief outing since his return from injury. He's had a nice season in Syracuse, and he remains in the relief mix. Hot Mets prospect Yusmeiro Petit started for Binghamton and struck out 6 in 2.1 innings in his first start upon return after a shoulder injury. Here's the game story from the Binghamton perspective.

Not sure where to post this (or if it is mentioned elsewhere), but the guys at www.baseballanalysts.com have a Q&A with Jon Lalonde.

It would be nice if Miller could work himself back into the starting mix. Though maybe he'd hurt himself again...who knows. I've always liked his potential but he has to stay healthy for more than 2 or 3 months at a time.

It has been mentioned recently that there are some prospects running out of options and that it might make sense to trade some of them now rather than later. I wonder if someone could give a definite clarification of the number of option years remaining, if any, on each of the following players:

Quiroz
Gross
Griffin
Hattig
Rosario
Arnold
Gaudin

Also, it would be interesting if anyone has stats on Miguel Negron for the month of June. It seeems like he's really come on of late.
