Managing is getting paid for home runs someone else hits.
---Casey Stengel

Three different pitchers are looking for their 14th win: Jon Garland, Dontrelle Willis, and Chris Carpenter. The day's best pitching matchup features a pair of former of Blue Jays, as Roger Clemens and Carpenter square off in St.Louis.

The Yankees DFA'd Tim Redding, and hand the ball to Al Leiter tonight in Fenway Park. The Yankees can close to a half-game back of the division lead with a win.

Tim Hudson won his 7th yesterday, as he returned to the Atlanta rotation; Mike Hampton is back today, going up against Pedro Martinez.

And Ken Griffey's next HR will be number 521, and tie him with Ted Williams and Willie McCovey for 14th overall.

Here's a park effects question/challenge. Texas' Young faces Haren in Oakland. What's the over/under on total runs scored? What would it be if the same pitchers started in Texas?

The only twist is that for some reason, more runs seem to be scored in the daytime in Oakland than at night. I'd put the over/under at 9.5. It would be about 10.5 in Texas.

Bodog.com has it at 9. I like the under even at 9. In Texas, I'd say 10 would sound about right. Haren is probably going to get a lot of respect in the gambling world right now.

Thanks, your post reminded me I wanted to bet the Red Sox tonight against the Yankees...
