Syracuse 0 @ Ottawa 5
Scott Downs wasn’t the only Blue Jay pitcher to get the short end of the stick last night; Shaun Marcum was outstanding in pitching 7 innings of 2-run ball for Syracuse, but like Downs he took the loss for his effort. Marcum allowed just 3 hits, struck out 3 and walked 1. Kevin Tolar was touched up for 3 runs in his inning.
The Chiefs managed just 6 hits. Guillermo Quiroz had a double at the bottom of the lineup, Gabe Gross a single leading off. John Ford Griffin took an oh-fer.
Norwich 7 @ New Hampshire 3
In what has to be the worst start of his outstanding season, Casey Janssen surrendered 7 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits over 5 innings. He did manage to strike out 6 without walking anyone. Approaching 150 innings, Janssen may be hitting a wall in his first full pro season. Cameron Reimers followed Janssen with 4 shutout innings, 6 hits and no true outcomes.
The offense managed 9 singles and 2 walks. Ryan Roberts had 2 of the base knocks, Chip Cannon and Rob Cosby each a single and a walk, and Curtis Thigpen a solitary safety.
Dunedin 6 @ Lakeland 13
At least they scored a few runs. John Schneider led the D-Jays with a homer-walk-single night. Mike Snyder also hit a bomb and walked, and Carlo Cota and David Smith each recorded two hits. Adam Lind took the only oh-fer amongst the starting 9.
Pitching? Sopko and Harang were bad, Harper was not good, and MacDonald was awful. Let’s hear it for Danny Hill and his 1-2/3 no hit innings.
Lansing 10 @ Wisconsin 1
Apparently the kids in Lansing didn’t get the memo that it was Doom & Gloom Day for all Toronto-affiliated ball clubs. They hammed the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 10-1 behind the pitching of Mississauga’s A.J. Wideman and a 13-hit 6-walk attack.
Right fielder Eric Nielsen piloted that attack with a 5 hit night, including a triple. DH Chuck Anderson walked twice and homered, while first baseman David Hicks and shortstop Ryan Klosterman had 2 singles apiece. CF Yuber Rodriquez took and oh-fer but drew a walk.
As for Wideman, he won his 7th of the year going 6 shutout innings, 3-1-5 in the H-BB-K departments. Dewon Day allowed the solitary Wisconsin run on a solo homer in his sole inning, while Joey McLuaghlin and Jordan Timm finished things off with a shutout inning each.

Pulaski 4 @ Princeton 5
A heartbreaker for Pulaski in Princeton as Scott Byrnes, working his second inning, allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth for the blown save and a Blue Jay loss. Earlier, Hector Delgadillo started and tossed a rocky 4 innings (3 runs on 8 hits, 5-0 K-BB). In the middle, Jon Girjalva worked a brilliant 3 (2 hits, 3 strikeouts).
Graig Badger (BB), Paul Franko (2B), Jonathan Jaspe, and Jesus Gonzalez (HR) all had two hits for Pulaski. Lee Soto had a single in 4 trips.
