It took two innings of Friday night's game for me to decide who was going to be Photo of the Day today.

Here's Lyle Overbay:

Yeah, it was supposed to be a Monday POTD, but I can't get my days straight.  I need a calendar.  Hope you enjoyed the sneak preview.

Lyle has been absolutely pounding the snot outta the ball recently.

Lost in the mayhem of Wells, Rios, Sparky Catalanotto's numbers is that Overbay is also having a career year.

I think he's really proved his weight - very solid defence, but also very heads up defence. He was the one who spotted Delgado not touching 2nd after rounding it against the mets, and he made another very heads up play earlier in the year when he tagged a runner who did not immediately return to first base after overunning it - that's very easy to miss. That's just smart baseball, and its too bad because plays like those get overshadowed by diving stops and stuff, but it all equals the same thing, an out.
