Yesterday, in my e-mailbox, I found my daily Newberg Report (archived at NewbergReport.com here) from one of the deans of independent Internet baseball journalists, Dallas lawyer Jamey Newberg.

You may have encountered Jamey here on Batter's Box previously -- he is a registered member, mostly for the purpose of sharing his Ranger Expertise -- like team previews in '07 and '08 -- here for the benefit of the majority of Bauxites, living in a whole 'nother country far, far away from the Lone Star State.

He has also taken some literary liberties with Toronto baseball -- all in good fun, of course -- and did the baseball world the great service of introducing to it former Batter's Box (and Ranger "Farm Animals") favorite, Spike Lundberg. Oh, and you might recognize Newberg's new-ish #2 guy, doing the daily "Farm Report" e-mails -- that's former Batter's Box roster member Scott Lucas. (We got a couple of draft picks for him.)

Turns out that yesterday -- read that link in the first line -- was the official 10th anniversary of The Newberg Report. In Internet Time, that's -- well, honestly, I don't know, but that's a hell of a long time. I grew up rooting for the Yankees and Reds, and time here on Da Box has grown my attention to the Jays, of course, but any affinity I have for my hometown Rangers, I have to admit -- it's at least in part due to the excellence of the near-daily, free Newberg Report.

Kudos to you, Jamey. We'll keep reading, right up through (and beyond) that forthcoming Halladay/Padilla matchup in Game 1 of the 2009 ALCS. Keep 'em coming!

Damn, that is impressive!

Not even Google has been around for 10 years    Can anyone even remember an Internet without Google?

Congrats, Jamey.

Tip of the hat to Jamey, whose ten-year reign is forever in internet years, but wag of the finger to Mick for making a Dave Berg signing seem likely.

And tip of the hat to Rob for the most excellent Stephen Colbert reference.

Second-funniest man on television today.
