Are the Jays going to need light sabre bats to get hits off this guy?

I predict Stairs will show himself to have greatest control of the force. Although to win, it needs to be Roy.

I predict a Jays win. Roy is 'nearly' as effective as Joba through five. Maybe to the tune of 1-0 to 2-1 for the Yankees. Then Joba gets pulled and the Jays beat the crap out of the Yanks bullpen for three innings while Doc keep mowing them down.

Final: 5-2 Jays.

Let's see how close I am. :)

Leave off the middle 'A' for "Ace"!!!

Now that picture would make a cool banner for someone to take to the game. Bet you'd get onto the Yankee network with it!

Of course, it also could be a big incentive for the Yanks, who are just 1/2 a game out of last place (c'mon Baltimore!)

I'm looking forward to watching at least part of this game. Talk about a marquee matchup.

According to espn's accuscore projection, the Jays have a 44% chance of winning tonight's game (they claim to run 10,000 simulations for every game, one play at a time). Though I'm not sure how you can project Joba's first major-league start...

I think the key tonight will be taking advantage of early opportunities--being patient at the plate, timely hitting, execution, avoiding DPs, etc. Making Chamberlain work, getting into the Yankees bullpen early, and not forcing Halladay to be perfect all night.

On another note, does anyone know if Aaron Hill is ready to start tonight's game?

The Yankee bullpen is really dreadful without Joba setting up Mo. When's the last time anyone said that bullpen was dreadful, 1993?

Incidentally, all due respect to Doc, the only major league pitcher in history who could really battle The Hutt is former Pirate 15-game-winner Luke "Sky" Walker.

Close enough so far.

Hmm...the Jays are sort of doing this. That attempted steal by Wilkerson (assuming the manager called for it) was the bad Gibbons rearing its ugly head again--the "desperate times call for desperate measures" Gibbons.

And is there some unwritten law that says the Jays are required to make mediocre pitchers look good?

"F$%# you, Joba. I do it myself."

Evidently not.
