Jamestown @ Auburn, for old time's sake

The Doubledays' defence excelled in holding the first-place Jammers to a solitary field goal, while the offence racked up 2 TDs, a 2 point conversion and a field goal in the first half.  Mike McDade and Adam Amar went deep for Auburn.  At 6'1", 270 at age 19, Mike McDade is a beeg mon who has thrived since being sent down to Auburn.  He's now at .372/.425/.521 for Upstate New York.  Joshua Charles-Handford Wells from London, England started for the D-days, and went 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, while punching out 7.  A mite uncivilized to being punching out batters on a field, in't it?

2 TDs, a 2 point conversion and a field goal in the first half

Math is not my strong point, but that's 17 -- I assume you meant us to presume the second TD had the traditional one-point XP?

Persnoally, I was hoping for the story to outline two field goals and six safeties!

Yes, one might say McDade is feeding on the pitching in the NYP league...

six safeties

Or twelve rouges.

In the New Hampshire game, the opposing New Britain pitchers issued 13 walks!  5 AA Jays had at least 2 walks.  Alas, the JP Arencibia walk meter (at AA) remained at 2.

I attended an Ottawa Rapidz game for the first time on Monday night.  The quality of the play did not seem competitive with AA baseball (I recently saw an AA game in Akron (bus trip organized by SABR)).  There were lots of bobbles and overthrows and pop flies surprisingly falling in between the fielders.  Still, everything else was more fun than past years; e.g. they had a lot more food options, such as a $6 smoked meat sandwich, and $2 fries that actually had flavour.  The players and staff all had sharp outfits; e.g. the visiting Sussex Skyhawks had old-style floppy gray caps.  The dancing girls on the dugouts were tireless.  The fans though paid more attention to the game.  The Rapidz lost 11-7 in 13 innings.  Attendance was 2109 on Monday night (Civic Holiday in Ontario).

Jonathon Diaz continued his recent spell of reaching safely with 2 walks.  By my count he's reached safely in every game since he arrived on July 13. Of course no one cares about hit OBP, obviously I have no idea how his defense was aside from saying that he was errorless.
