Ubaldo Jimenez just threw a no-hitter at a pretty good Braves line-up. As a young pitcher with a crazy motion, I'm sure some Rockies fans will be wringing their hands at the 128 pitches he needed to overcome 6 walks, but for the moment I'm sure everyone is just enjoying the moment.

So, did anyone watch the game?

I didn't watch that one, but I took a nap during the STL-NYM game and woke up and it was still on.

The kicker? Felipe Lopez just threw a scoreless inning after playing both SS and 3B in the game. He hit a grand-slam to win the game yesterday. I hope gets the win... there's no way that's been done on back to back nights by a position player.

Hello history with a Jays flavor, please... c'mon STL make that 1st round pick in 1998 look good.

So, then, are the Mets -- the Seaver-Koosman-Matlack-Gentry-Ryan-Gooden-Cone-Darling-Fernandez-Ojeda-Saberhagen-Martinez-Viola-Leiter-Santana Mets -- the only MLB franchise now (still) without a no-hitter?

20 innings, wow. Some fun statistics:

651 pitches were thrown.
Ryan Ludwick saw the most pitches of any hitter at 46.
The game was 6 hours and 53 minutes long.
Jason Bay went 0-7 with 4 Ks (ouch)
Pujols reached base 6 times (including 2 intentional walks)
The 2 teams combined to go 1-25 with RISP.
According to the ESPN box score, "J Garcia" started the game for St. Louis. That means Jerry, right?

That's about the length of a nine inning game between the Red Sox and Yankees.  Was Joe West working that game?

San Diego and Tampa have also never thrown a no-hitter.

Thanks, James. I could've sworn that Gaylord Perry threw one for the Padres, and I must be confusing an early Florida Marlin with a Devil Ray. {channeling Emily Litella} Never mind!
