The Mets and Pirates take center stage once again in this edition of the POTD.

Mets ace Johan Santana fires away against the Buccos at PNC Park August 22, 2010.

Pittsburgh lefty Zach Duke tries to drop one down to advance Ronny Cedeno, the first Pirate to reach base after drawing a walk, to second base in the bottom of the third inning.  Mets catcher Henry Blanco reacts to the ball in the air.

Duke runs toward first while Santana points in the same direction.  However, Mets first baseman Ike Davis had other ideas and threw to second base to force out Cedeno.

Jose Reyes looks to be ready for takeoff as he runs toward second base.  Pirates second baseman Neil Walker gives chase as the ball is lifted towards the outfield.

Walker continues the pursue the rawhide while Reyes goes past second.  The play resulted in the Mets Angel Pagan flying out to right to end the top of the fifth inning.

The Pirates Pedro Alvarez takes his lead from first after one of his two singles against Santana on the afternoon.  Davis holds him on at first.

Santana struck out the first four batters to start the game and wound up going the distance by scattering just four hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Unfortunately for Santana, two of the four hits he allowed were solo homers by Jose Tabata and Lastings Milledge and the Mets dropped a 2-1 decision to Duke and the Bucs.
