Features It's that time of year again .... braggadoccio welcome!

We ask this every year as Christmas comes (and if I read my watch right, in Toronto this year, that's in about 20 minutes!) so ...

What'djaget???

That's right, we want to know ... was Baseball Santa good to you this year? You can brag on other non-great-game-related givts, too, but we are most interested in the cards, tickets, regalia and memorabilia (or whatever else) you received that would make Bill James smile and little Robbie Neyer insanely jealous. This is also a place to, if you really want to, post your Christmas holiday wishes to others on this site (don't worry, the annual New year's resolutions thread comes next week -- no need to commit early!) .....

On Monday, we will present the first-ever award recognizing the best post to the Christmas thread (this one), as selected by a committee of one (me) -- the selection criteria are as yet undetermined and likely will be just north of random, so get your creativity bootstraps a-working! That's right, on Dec. 26, someone will be the proud owner of the inaugural Batter's Boxing Day Award.

Vecsey's Baseball, a new glove to break in and a bat to practice with. Moving back to Toronto this year after being away for more than a decade. Need to find me a softball league now for June :)

Travis Snider's Game Worn New Hampshire Fisher Cats jersey is on eBay right now, ha. That might be a good late Holiday present for someone.

Status Pro 1989 game set (bought off ebay) with 2011 updated cards for all teams.  Best board game ever.  Played it all the time about 25 or 30 years ago when I was a kid.  Now my nine year son gets to play.  Loves it.  Highly recommended - most realistic statistical game I have played.

My son always gets me the past season Strat-O-Matic cards for the league we both play in.  My daughter gave me (among other things) a specially-designed cap for my team.

I got a Blue Jays gift card, which will go towards a blue jersey, and a Chapters gift card, which will go towards a baseball-related book.  I hope Santa remembers the World Series trophy for the Jays in 2012. ;D

Okay, this thread is apparently not going to blow up like it has in past years, so let's put it out of its misery ....

Who wins the first annual Batter's Boxing Day Award (TM)? Let's see, there are several worthy candidates ...

  • Could it be DJRob, who's actually moving BACK to Toronto? That's a pretty good stake in the ground ....
  • Could it be melondough, passing on a family tradition to the next generation of Jay fandom, and so excited about it, he posted it twice?  :-)
  • Could it be joe blow, mixing alcohol with a Brian Tallet sneer?
  • Could it be #2JB, the only Bauxite to think to poke Santa for a 2012 title?

Worthy candidates all. But Christmas is all about family -- see, I told you the rules were random! -- so, even with the requisite  two-base penalty for hitting the Submit Comment button twice, hip-hip-hoorah for our 2011 Boxing Day champ, melondough!

Thanks for the award Mick although I have to admit it was a Hannukah gift. In fairness the Christmas award should go to someone else (I will take the Hannukah award though). Happy Hannukah and Merry Christmas to all :o)
