Having a "bad" inning happens to everyone. Errors occur at the least wanted / most opportune time. Pitchers need learn how to limit the damage before they are deemed ready. Coughing up a 3-run or 4-run inning crushes optimism and could be insurmountable. Some Pitchers have too much success never facing "the disaster".

I hope this is a learning experience for Sergio Santos, because it determines his future. Option years on his contract start in 2014 and we still don't know who Santos is as opposed to who he was said to be.

I can understand giving up 1 or 2 runs in an inning, 'stuff' happens. I can't understand how the 3rd run scores, but the 4th run or more scores because the Pitcher gave up.
