NOTES

The Bisons gave up five runs in game one. Casey Lawrence gave up three in five innings but Nice Goodrum hit a two run home run off Zach Pop in the sixth.

Zac Thompson started game 2 and went five innings, allowing one run. Hagen Danner came on for the sixth and three Sox hitters took him deep. Three solo homers including one by Bobby Dalbec.

The hitters were quiet, five hits in game one and nine in game two. Four of the hits in game two came in the last inning and led to the Bisons only two runs in that game. Otto Lopez was 3-4 in game two.

Also note the Jays released OF Wynton Bernard and P Kyle Johnston yesterday.

Chad Dallas had a good start for NH. Through 4.2 innings he gave up one run. The run was unearned. A lead off walk was at second with two out. An infield single followed, the only hit Dallas allowed, but Orelvis Martinez made an error on the throw that led the run to score. Dallas had six K's. Four relievers followed picking up another eight strikeouts for a total of 14. NH hitters only struck out six times. NH also outhit Portland 6-4 but strikeouts and hits don't win the game.

Vancouver scored four runs in their first inning with one hit. Walks and an error scored one run and left the bases loaded. That's when Gabriel Martinez cleared them with a double. Dasan Brown hit a three run home run in the fourth. Martinez added a two run shot in the eighth to give him five RBI on the night with a 3-5 game. Alan Roden had his usual two hits with two walks.

The ups and downs of Adam Macko continued. In four innings he gave up seven hits and three runs.

Dunedin had two three run innings. Angel Del Rosario doubled in the first run and singled in the last two. Manuel Beltre also had two hits. Rafael Ohashi started and went 5.2 innings, three runs. He had just two strikeouts though.

The FCL Blue Jays are 5-12 after losing on Thursday. Their hitting is middle of the pack but the pitching is worst in the league.

The DSL Jays also lost on Thursday. Their record is 7-10. Enmanuel Bonilla hit his first professional home run. There are 50 teams in the DSL as most major league clubs have two teams. The Jays have just one. The Jays rank 36th out of the 50 teams for hitting and 45th for pitching. The two complex teams are losing more than winning and are generally below average, especially for pitching. Now I know you just need one guy to make it all worthwhile, so we will see.

Just 1 guy to make it worthwhile sounds like a good philosophy for the DSL & FCL.

We have a lot of Cs who are playing out of position. Not enough ABs I suppose.
