NOTES

Jimmy Robbins still hasn't got a grip on AAA. He pitched into the third inning and was charged with six runs. He had given up three when he was removed but reliever Gabe Klobosits gave up a grand slam.

Eight hits for the Bisons. Addison Barger had two doubles and a walk. Ernie Clement homered.

Alan Roden hit his first AA home run yesterday. He hit his second on Saturday, a three run bomb in the first inning. Riley Tirotta added a solo shot in the second and Miguel Hiraldo a three run homer in the fifth. Hiraldo decided that twice was nice so he hit a solo home run in the seventh. Three hits for Hiraldo as he added a double in the eighth that drove in two more runs. Six RBI for Hiraldo.

Abdiel Mendoza went five innings, just three hits allowed with five K's.

Vancouver built a 5-2 lead through four innings. Cade Doughty hit a two run home run, his 14th. Then Tri-City mounted a comeback scoring two runs off starter Rafael Sanchez and three off Al Pesto.

That takes us to the bottom of the eighth. Ryan McCarty singled to get the rally started, one of his three hits on the night. He also walked. With two outs Devonte Brown walked, then Dasan Brown singled in a run. Doughty singled in the tying run and the runners moved up to second and third on an error. The Dust Devils then intentionally walked Peyton Williams to load the bases. The pitcher then hit Josh Kasevich to bring in the winning run.

Dunedin held Lakeland to just three hits but lost to a walk off double in the bottom of the ninth. Lazaro Estrada started for the Jays and went 5.2 innings, two hits allowed with five K's.

Six hits for the Jays, Nick Goodwin and Roque Salinas had two each.

I like our farm because we have a large quantity of prospects succeeding this year. A few prospects that took their time getting to AAA that were not high on our top 30 prospect list like Schneider and Horwitz. Then there were flops that were high on our list like Groshans and Martin.

Pillar and Jonathan Davis were low picks that overperformed. C Eden could be like that.

Some of our top prospects have underperformed and others overperformed. A Roden is #7 now.

Hiraldo seems to be one of many fringey prospects in New Hampshire's lineup this year. Roden and Leo Jimenez are genuine prospects, but beyond them fringe is well-populated. Schwecke and Phil Clarke have recently moved up to Buffalo, but you still have Hiraldo and Rainer Nunez (both still 22); Steward Berroa with a strong season; Tirotta and Turconi - both Italian-named infielders and late-round college draftees who tore up the Northwest League and have struggled in AA; Damiano Palmegiani; and finally Sosa and Britton behind the plate.

I find it hard to see any of these guys becoming regulars, except perhaps for Britton and Clarke, who might be flying under the radar on the Yan Gomes trail.

Turconi only has 10 ABs in AA. He's hit everywhere he's played and I read that he's currently on a 37 game on-base streak.

Next to the jump from AAA to the majors, the jump from A+ to AA has traditionally has been the most difficult.  No surprise the players who've done it this year have struggled, some massively.

Turconi was only drafted last year and is coming off a huge season in High A. I'm not sure if he's going to amount to anything, but I don't think that a ~4 game sample in AA is indication that he is "struggling" lol.

Meant it as struggling to replicate their High A numbers rather than the way you took it. Roden's 124 wRC+ is good for a 23 yr old in AA, just not as good as the 150 he put up for the C's.

Sorry, I was responding to GabrielSyme - not you hypobole.

metafour & DiscoStu - suffice it to say that my theatrical enumeration of the multitudinous parallels between Tirotta & Turconi was not intended to be a disciplined examination of the significance of sample size.
