Vancouver Canadians

If you thought a football game was going on at Funko Field on Wednesday night you might have been right as the Vancouver Canadians exploded for six runs in the second inning en route to a 13-3 win over the Everett Aquasox Wednesday.

The Jace Bohrofen homer that made it 6-2 was the turning point in a six-run second inning where Vancouver chased Frogs starter Ryan Hawks from the game.

The second inning started innocently enough on a Peyton Williams walk and it all unravelled from there for Everett.

The eighth inning saw the Canadians get five more runs thanks to six hits in that inning. Brown added another two-run double and Jamari Baylor tallied his third hit and second RBI.

The Canadians Pat Gallagher struggled to start the game giving up a two-run homer in the bottom of the first. He found his form for the next four innings thanks to the Canadian’s run support and some strong pitching on his part.

Gallagher finished with a season-high seven strikeouts and no walks in five innings of work against three hits and two earned runs off of the homer.

Vancouver faces Everett again tonight at 7:05 pm at Funko Field. The Canadians send Connor O’Halloran against the AquaSox right-hander Michael Morales. The series continues until Sunday.

Buffalo Bisons

A Riley Tirotta homer would be the only run for the Buffalo Bisons in their game against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs yesterday.

The Iron Pigs took this contest 3-1 thanks to scoring runs in the first, sixth, and seventh innings.

The Iron Pigs Cody Roberts singled on a line drive to left that scored Trevor Schwecke in the bottom half of the first after a Spencer Horwitz triple was wasted in the top half of the inning.

The Iron Pigs Cody Roberts would then double on a line drive to left that scored Trevor Schwecke again in the bottom half of the sixth.

Scott Kingery would then single on a line drive to left fielder Cam Eden scoring Nick Podkul in the seventh and the Iron Pigs would shut the door the rest of the way.

Buffalo and Lehigh Valley play again tonight at 6:45 pm EDT at Coca-Cola Park.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The Erie SeaWolves scored six runs in two innings and cruised to a 9-1 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Wednesday.

The SeaWolves Hao-Yu Lee blasted a three-run homer to center field scoring Erie’s Gage Workman and Carlos Mendoza in the bottom of the first inning.

The Fisher Cats starter Michael Dominguez surrendered six runs in this contest and lasted only 1.2 innings. He walked five and surrendered the two home runs as well.

New Hampshire narrowly avoided being shut out in this one scoring their only run in the top half of the ninth.

The Fisher Cats Devereaux Harrison (1-3 5.28 ERA) is on the mound against The Sea Wolves Carlos Pena (0-4 4.66 ERA) today. Game time is 6:05 PM EDT.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays dropped a close one 3-2 to the Palm Beach Cardinals on Wednesday with Jauron Watts-Brown on the mound for the Blue Jays.

We seem to always get the Jauron Watts-Brown outings for our Wednesday updates and he pitched well again going six-plus innings. He allowed a run in the first then scattered one hit across the next four frames.

Palm Beach’s Miguel Villarroel triple looked threatening in the fourth but Watts-Brown stranded him on third with a groundout, strikeout, and pop-out.

Dunedin did take a 2-1 lead in their half of the sixth thanks to a balk that scored Marcos De La Rosa, and then an RBI ground out from Kekai Rios.

Brown had five K’s and no walks in this contest but did surrender the go-ahead run when a Chase Davis two-RBI double put Palm Beach ahead 3-2.

Dunedin and Palm Beach play again today at 6:30 pm local time.
