NOTES

The Bisons hitters were en fuego. 19 hits, every hitter had a hit. Orelvis had a big night, two doubles and a triple. However it is his first multi hit game since May 6th. Rainer Nunez homered, his third in the last seven days. Josh Rivera had four hits and three RBI. Rivera is 9 for 17 this week, hitting over .500. He could be in line for IL player of the week, just before he possibly gets sent down as Josh Kasevich and Leo Jimenez return.

Ryan Watson had another not so great start, four runs in 4.1 innings. His performances have dropped since his strong start to the season.

RJ Schreck homered for NH, his eighth and his fourth in the last seven games. Just as the Jays have a logjam at shortstop, they also have one in the OF as Schreck and Pinango look for a promotion. Edinson Paulino also homered, his third.

Vancouver were held to five hits, all singles. Jackson Wentworth went four innings, six K's but four runs allowed on five hits.

Dunedin had 13 hits, and 11 walks. Every hitter had a hit. Edward Duran continued his hot streak with a hit and two walks. Dunedin has a very balanced attack, seven hitters are hitting between .250 and .300, the other two are just under .250. Any hitter can carry the team in a game and in this game they all contributed.

Three pitchers each threw three innings for the FCL Jays. Johnny King one hit allowed, five K's. Holden Wilkerson, two hits, three K's. Samuel Colmenares, three hits, four K's. It was Wilkerson's first professional appearance. The 21 year old signed last summer as an 18th round pick out of the Virginia Military Institute. Notes from last year say going back to VMI to finish his degree was very important for Wilkerson so I presume that's why he is only starting to pitch now.

Josh Kasevich had three hits. Could he and Leo Jimenez be back with Buffalo next week? Aldo Gaxiola, highlighted in yesterdays MLU, had two more hits to get his average up to .313.

Paulino has an .847 OPS in May so looking more like a real prospect again. Schreck has now had like 250 amazing PAs in AA. Like Panago, no reason for him to be in AA anymore. For Eastern League players with more than 100 PAs, those two are #1 and #2 in WRC+. Will be good to get Kasevich and Jimenez back giving Jays more depth in IF. Really want to see what kind of stuff King has. Kiley McDaniel mentioned him as one of his two summer click to picks.

In the category of guys to keep an eye on, Jean Joseph is a young 20, and hitting for more power in Dunedin this year, up to a 102 wRC+ despite a low babip and virtually no walks. He's played mostly CF, but I don't know if that's likely to be his long-term home.

Joseph has a really strong arm and has already thrown out 2-3 guys in 20 games... they don't run on him as much now. He's probably well suited for RF, maybe CF.

He also walked twice last night (his first walks) which is a great sign for him as he didn't have a history of being too aggressive. He might have been pushing after repeating the level and getting a late start due to injury.

Andres (Junior) Arias is settling in now after being a late add from the DSL. Two more hits today and homers on back-to-back days. Three homers in 10 games for the guy I flagged as my deep sleeper prospect for 2025.

Schreck now has a 1.230 OPS in May.

It is crazy how many left-handed corner outfielders the Jays have now. If two of them pan out, the team is pretty well set in the corners post-Springer (minus a nice righty platoon partner).

We could actually field a legit young and deserving full lineup in AAA right now, aside from catcher.

* CF Clase 23
* RF Schreck 24
* LF Pinango 23
* 3B Rivera 24
* SS Kasevich 24
* 2B Jimenez 24
* 1B Nunez 24
* DH Orelvis 23

Great game from Arias today - 2-2, HR, 3BB, 2SB. Looks like contact will be a key question for him - I looked to see if his 48% strikeout rate going into today was a little bit of SSS bad luck, but nope, he has a sub-50% contact rate. I'm not sure I've seen that before.
