New Hampshire 5 Reading 4

Vancouver 8 Spokane 4

Buffalo 5 Columbus 2

Dunedin’s game was postponed, New Hampshire, Vancouver, and Buffalo won.

Vancouver Canadians

As someone who regularly confuses the Spokane Indians High A baseball team with the Spokane Chiefs WHL team, the above title seemed appropriate.

The Vancouver Canadians continued their recent surge Wednesday, now sitting at 31-28 on the season after beating Spokane 8-4. 2024 was a year that was not kind to Vancouver whenever they played the Indians as they lost their Northwest League crown to Spokane last September.

With six wins in a row and 14 in their last 16, Arjun Nimmala hit his 10th home run in this game as well. He is the youngest qualified player in the Northwest League.

Vancouver sits at 31-28 now, tied for the first place lead in the Northwest with the Everett Aquasox.

The C’s and Indians play the third game of their series today at 7:05 PM PDT at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Buffalo Bison

Buffalo were 5-2 winners Wednesday thanks to a Michael Stefanic and Rainer Nunez collecting three hits a piece and Nunez’s three RBI’s.

Two runs for Buffalo in the fourth and three more in the seventh were keyed by a Yohendrick Pinango Triple scoring Riley Tirotta and then Nunez single scoring Pinango in the fourth.

Buffalo is now 27-36 on the season. The two teams play again today at 6:35 PM ET.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The Fisher Cats beat the Reading Fightin Phils 5-4 Wednesday.

The Cats struck first in the top of the third when Eddinson Paulino blasted a solo home run on a fly ball to centre field and then Jace Bohrofen’s double scored Charles McAdoo.

Juaron Watts-Brown went five innings allowing three earned runs against two walks and two strikeouts.

Bohrofen had three hits and two RBI’s to go with two runs for New Hampshire.

New Hampshire and Reading play today at 6:35 PM ET.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Fort Meyers game was postponed due to rain and will be made up today.

The two teams play a double header today starting at 4:00pm ET.

Yesavage has walked the first 3 batters of his AA career.

Since those first three batters, 4 IP, 1H, 1BB, 1K. The man can pitch. Also, Paulino HR. Continues to be one of these under the radar guys. He had a 125 WRC + going into the game as a 22 YO in AA.

Paulino as mentioned coming into tonight's game had a 125 wRC+ overall, and a 148 wRC+ (9.3 BB%, 16.7 K%, .227 ISO) in his 30 games (108 PA). He's 2-3 with a HR and a BB tonight so far. Since he already had a little over 250 PA in AA last season, with another 150+ this season so far, a promotion to AAA soon would make sense.

Yesavage was in front of a large contingent from his hometown (they were quite loud, which was awesome to hear), so that could've easily contributed to his rough start.

He looked great in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, before running into trouble again in the 5th.

Sounds like a good start for Yesavage once he battled past the early nerves.

Kinda weird to still have the Spokane Indians now that Cleveland have the Guardians.
Also weird is that they have been affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Phillies, the LA Dodgers, the Rangers, the Brewers, the Mariners, the Angels, the Padres, the Royals, the Rangers again and now the Rockies for the last 20+ years.
It's like Cleveland never had any rights over their own name this whole time.

They've also been the Hawks, the Smoke Eaters, the Blue Stockings, the Bunchgrassers and the Bunch Grassers but they've been the Indians since 1940.
Their mascots are Otto, Doris the Spokanasaurus, Reycle Man and Ribby the Redband Trout.
Maybe there's a theme.

Of note, the team bus drove off the road in 1946 and half the team crashed and burned, literally.

Paulino's pre-season write-up at FG was not kind to his defensive play, so I checked his error totals. They are ugly. ugly..
greenfrog - Friday, June 13 2025 @ 10:32 AM EDT (#461575) #
Yes but most of his errors this season have occurred when he was playing SS. His error rate has been much lower when he has played second base (MILB provides a breakdown of his errors and fielding percentages at the two positions).

Of course, without more information, this doesn’t answer the question of whether Paulino is a good defensive second baseman.
