NOTES
Gage Stanifer faced Eugene on Tuesday and it did not go well. He was charged with five runs in 2.1 innings. So revenge was on his mind on Sunday when he again faced the Emeralds. And he did get his revenge, five innings, one hit, one walk, eight K's.
The C's had just four hits, Eugene had three. Edward Duran had two, he is starting to get used to high A. Sam Shaw on the other hand was 0-3 and is hitting .130 in high A.
Johnny King had an adventurous day. In three innings he walked three batters, he hit three batters, he threw two wild pitches and he did not give up an earned run. In his first inning he hit three batters and issued a walk but did not allow a run thanks to a caught stealing. He had a clean second inning but a lead off double, followed by a walk put runners on with no one out in the third. He struck out a pair around a wild pitch but a passed ball let a run score. Another walk preceded a final K. In total he struck out seven in three innings.
For the offense Tucker Toman and Braden Barry each had three hits.
The FCL Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. That inning started with a hit by pitch. Aldo Gaxiola doubled to tie the game and Yorman Licourt singled for the winning run.
Sann Omosako started and went five shutout innings. Franly Urena struck out the side in the ninth for the save. Omosako finished his first stateside season with a 4.09 ERA. His WHIP was 1.27, his strikeout to walk ratio was almost 10:1 but his total strikeouts were a little light at 39 in 44 innings. He did improve his ERA from May to June and from June to July so he should get a promotion to Dunedin for 2026.
