NOTES

Shane Bieber started for Buffalo, he went 5.2 innings and was charged with two runs. Adam Kloffenstein followed and he finished the game with 3.1 hitless innings. But he did walk four but struck out five. Plusses and minus's.

The Bisons scored first when RJ Schreck hit a two run home run. Schreck singled in Jon Clase in the seventh. Clase and Schreck had two hits, Andres Gimenez went 4-5. Tied at three in the ninth Yohendrick Pinango singled in two runs to break a 3-3 tie. Pinango was 3-4.

The New Hampshire game was a write off. All four NH pitchers gave up multiple runs. The hitters had seven hits, all singles. Jackson Hornung had two of them.

Vancouver were tied at one into the eighth inning. But then Hillsboro decided to help break the tie. Eddie Micheletti got things started with an infield single. But a wild pitch and an error let the run score and that was enough for the win. It was a low offense game, each team had four hits and all the hits were singles.

Fernando Perez was excellent once again. He went deep, seven innings, and he struck out eight. Hillsboro scored one run off him with three hits.

The Florida weather is definitely not cooperating. Once again Dunedin were limited by rain, playing two innings. Johnny King started and the Cardinals jumped on him for two solo home runs in the first inning. The Cards got a hit and a walk in the second but didn't score as King struck out the side. That was it for King, two innings, 43 pitches.

Juan Sanchez continues to impress in the DSL. On Saturday he hit a two run, walk off home run in the seventh inning. His OPS is just short of 1,000.

Wishful thinking on my part but Nimmala, JoJo Parker and J Sanchez all have very good potential. Nimmala has already proven he has power in leagues that he is young for.

When the Jays did their selloff in 2024 I was not enthusiastic about either Loperifido or Schreck and both have had very encouraging seasons - I was excited about Charles McAdoo and after a dreadful start he's turned it around - 2024 selloff is looking more promising then the 2018 selloff.

I wonder if Angel Bastardo will go for a Rehab pitching stint before the end of season - Jays will probably be better off if he doesn't pitch this season which will put off having to add him to the 40 man roster this season - Jays have a number of guys on 60 day IL and some will require a 40 man spot soon.

Nice to know from Dunedin broadcast that Kasevich is recovering a wrist fracture and not a recurring back injury

He's doing both, technically... The original rehab was for the back but on the last day of his rehab, he broke his wrist.

When there were no updates on Bastardo with others, I assumed they were going to push him until next year.

McAdoo breaks up up a no-hitter with a one out RBI double in the bottom of the 9th.

Red Sox had their best pitching prospect facing the Bisons. Gave up a slam to Tirotta and a 2 run shot to Orelvis in the 1st and the Bisons win 6-3.

2024 selloff is looking more promising then the 2018 selloff.

Looking back at 2018, the relevant selloff returns were Ken Giles, Santiago Espinal, Brandon Drury, Billy McKinney, Bryan Baker, Forrest Wall & Jacob Waguespack.

Really can't make any connections between these returns & any success on the current roster (besides Espinal contributing some to post-2019 playoff teams).

David Paulino and Hector Perez came with Giles.

Santiago Espinal was traded to the Reds for pitcher Chris McElwain who is on the Vancouver Canadians roster but looks to be a non-prospect.

A lot of these guys are still kicking around. Espinal is with the Reds, and Drury, Waguespack, Wall and Baker are all in the minors with various teams.

I even saw that Trent Thornton is in the Seattle Mariners bullpen and hurt his leg last week on a fielding play. I didn't know he was still in baseball.

Why would Thornton be out of baseball?

He wasn't bad per say when the Jays DFAed him
4 games 5.1 innings, 1 walk, 5Ks, 1 run allowed.

He got in 71 games last year and would have been better than just about anyone the Jays used in the pen.

He's been below average this year, but the one really struggling is Nate Pearson.

It wasn't his performance that made me think he was no longer in baseball, Scottt, just that I hadn't heard his name in a long time. I actually liked him when he was on the Blue Jays.
