NOTES

RJ Schreck had a single, double and a home run and drove in five runs. It was a similar haul to yesterday. LV finally walked him in his last at bat. The Bisons scored 13 runs with ten hits, they also had ten walks. Charles McAdoo had two hits and a walk.

Grant Rogers started and went four innings, three runs, two K's. Pat Gallagher followed and struck out four in 2.2 innings. That follows four K's in 1.2 innings last Saturday. Gallaghers fastball only averages 89.7, but he got three whiffs and five called strikes off that pitch.

In the first New Hampshire game Gage Stanifer righted the ship. He had been walking too many hitters but on Thursday he only walked two. He threw 47 strikes and 35 balls, not quite at the desired two to one ratio but better than he has been. He was able to go five innings, no runs allowed. He struck out three. Nate Garkow went one inning, he now has 12.1 innings this season and his ERA is still zero. He is walking a few too many guys, nine so his WHIP is 1.22 behind his zero ERA.

NH scored four runs with six hits. Adrian Pinto had the biggest hit, a two run double in the third inning.

In game two Portland jumped Richard Gallardo for three runs before he could get two outs. He settled down after that going five innings, no additional runs allowed and he struck out eight. This game needed three extra innings before NH managed to win. A Nick Goodwin sac fly generated the winning run. It was Goodwins second sac fly in the game. Eddie Micheletti had three hits with two doubles. Arjun Nimmala, Aaron Parker and Jay Harry had two hits each.

Johnny King started for Vancouver and he had some trouble throwing strikes. He walked four in three innings and needed 67 pitches, 32 strikes and 35 balls. Holden Wilkerson was excellent in relief, he threw a five inning, one hitter with five K's.

Dub Gleed led off the game with a double. He scored the first run and later waled three times. Manuel Beltre homered, his second of the season. Kendry Chirinos had two hits and walked. Tucker Toman started the season so well, he was hitting .390 on April 21. But now he has cooled off, just one hit in May and his average s down to .274.

In Dunedin Yorman Licourt pulled a RJ Schreck with a single, double and a home run and five RBI. Three of his batted balls were recorded at 109.1, 108.9 and 105.9 mph. The Jays were actually out hit 10-7 but Bradenton made four errors.

Brandon Barriera pitched well, three innings, one run, four K's. FB averaged 93.2 and he picked up eighth whiffs.

In the FCL Jake Cook, presumably on rehab, had two hits and drove in two of the Jays three runs. Catcher Renyel Campos also had two hits. Yimi Garcia started and got two outs. Box fave, Sann Omosako went 4.1 shutout innings but he just had one K.

It's funny with all the RBIs, but Schreck looks to me like a leadoff hitter now.  He's got quite good plate control, runs pretty well and medium range pop to the pull side.

His line in 2026 isn't great, but it's a function of a .202 BABIP despite a 25% line drive rate.  He doesn't hit the ball hard (average EV 86 mph), but he should have a .280 plus BABIP still.

That .202babip was at like .150 a few days ago. He's been crushed by the babip gods so far this year. Really nice to see that finally start turning around.

MLB's (way to early) Mock Draft

39. Blue Jays: Sean Duncan, LHP, Terry Fox SS, Port Coquitlam, B.C.

17 , R/L, 6'3" 180, 05/09/2008

COMMITTED Vanderbilt

Scouting grades: Fastball: 50 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50

A majority of big league talent to be drafted out of British Columbia in Canada has been of the position player variety, with Tyler O’Neill and Brett Lawrie the most recent top three round success stories. The last time a high school pitcher went early from the province was back in 2002 when left-hander Adam Loewen was the No. 4 overall pick in the Draft. A fellow southpaw, Duncan has a very good chance to end that drought, getting scouts excited for the spring after throwing well at the Area Code Games over the summer and especially this fall at both Perfect Game’s WWBA World Championship in Jupiter and Toronto’s Canadian Futures Showcase.

A projectable 6-foot-3 lefty, Duncan has shown steady progress stuff-wise while being in front of scouts a lot since age 14 pitching for Canada’s junior national team. He was sitting around 88-89 mph with his fastball then and kind hovered in that range, with scouts waiting for a leap forward. It’s possible that started to happen at the Futures Showcase, when he was up to 95 mph -- sitting 93 -- with his heater. He’s also shown the ability to show off at least above-average secondary stuff, really selling his deceptive changeup with excellent arm speed and snapping off very good breaking stuff when he stays on top of it.

Not only does Duncan have a true three-pitch mix (it's not too difficult to dream about three above-average-to-plus offerings in the future), he’s shown a propensity for strike-throwing and understanding how to mix all of his pitches. He’s committed to Vanderbilt for college, but if the arrow keeps pointing up, he might not make it to Nashville.

it's not a mock but on Pipeline's ranking of potential draftees, the name that lands on the Jays pick is Jim Thome's kid.

Nolan Perry had an excellent debut for the Canadians last night- giving up a run on 3 hits and a walk over 5 innings with 8 Ks.  He had TJ in 2024 and is Rule 5 draft eligible after this year.  I am sure that someone here will see him when he makes his debut in Vancouver and an up-to-date scouting report would be interesting.
