Game Threads Jays at Cubs, August 6: Windy City Pit Stop
The Jays make a quick one day trip into Chicago for a make up game. Dylan Cease gets to start on his extra day of rest. It is also his first start of August after being pitcher of the month in July.

Thursday: Cease vs Peterson


The Jays face David Peterson who came over from the Mets in late June. He had one really bad start but his last four starts have been decent, four earned runs in four games.

We should also get an update on Trey Yesavage today.

I don't think it's going to be good news on Yesavage. If the MRI was clean, we'd already know by now. I'm guessing it's a meniscus issue, and it's either rest or surgery -- 4 to 6 vs. 6 to 8 weeks recovery... something like that. Either way, I can't see this being good news at this point.

Cubs scored 22 runs in a 3 game sweep of the Dodgers.

Jays scored 19 runs in their past 6 games and still managed to win 4.

The next stretch of 17gms is very tough. But the last 5 weeks are much easier.

They can afford toblose this stretch but not by very much.

If they can come out of that 17 game stretch alive, it will bode well for their slim playoff chances. Their final 30 games are against teams under .500.

6 of the 17 are vs. the Yankees, who are .500 sans Judge.
