NOTES

In Buffalo, Worcester scored four runs off Grant Rogers in five innings, Two were unearned when Josh Kasevich let a potential double play grounder go under his glove.

The Bisons had just seven hits. Three of them came in the sixth inning leading to two runs. Jevon Ward, RJ Schreck and Jon Clase had the hits. One of the pitchers facing the Bisons was former rule 5 pick Angel Bastardo. He threw two innings and struck out three. Generally he has been pitching reasonably well for Worcester, a few too many walks and plenty of strikeouts.

NH were scheduled to play a doubleheader but rain postponed game two. Their game was seven innings because of that. In the game NH scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to turn a 2-1 loss into a 3-2 win. The Cats had seven hits and the 5-6-7 hitters had all of them Victor Arias went 3-3 with a home run and a triple. Jay Harry was 2-3 with a triple and Jackson Hornung was 2-3. The two triples were back to back in the sixth followed by Hornung's single.

Jay Harry is hitting .351 and he is definitely under the radar. Harry hit .199 between Vancouver and Hew Hampshire last season so no one expected this. But he does have a few things in his favour. First he was a sixth round draft pick in 2023 by the Twins. A sixth round pick is someone to watch but because it was the Twins picking him. Harry was selected seven picks before Jace Bohrofen. Second, Harry is still just 23, he will turn 24 in July. It wouldn't be unusual for a player to take a jump at age 23. Now Harry has a huge BABIP which won't last but looking at some stats he has upped his line drive rate from 21% to 31% and dropped his fly balls from 39% to 23%. So he is making more solid contact. He is also pulling the ball less, down from 56% to 40% and using the whole field more. We will keep watching to see if he can keep it going.

Richard Gallardo went six innings for the win, he had four K's.

Johnny King made the start for Vancouver and he was excellent, five innings, no runs and eight K's. King was followed by Holden Wilkerson who hadn't given up an earned run since April 12th. But a couple of untimely walks came around to score on him tonight, one thanks to a home run.

The C's had only two hits.

The D Jays did not get much pitching support giving up eight runs to Tampa. Brandon Barriera started and just went 2.2 innings, 49 pitches. Tampa scored an unearned run off him thanks to a Jojo Parker error, Parker's second of the season. Juan Sanchez also made an error in this game, his seventh! Sanchez's fielding needs watching. Back to Barriera, he had nine whiffs in his 2.2 innings, a good number even if it was a short outing.

The D Jays did have 12 hits. Adam Hackenberg, who was with Buffalo last week, had three of the hits. Juan Sanchez hit a three run home run, his second of the season. Blaine Bullard and David Guzman each had two hits. Jake Cook, in his first game for Dunedin, had a two RBI double.
