I'd like to see Cameron up to platoon with Bateman and maybe get some other ABs. Cameron was a very good prospect who was rushed to the majors. He's been fantastic in AAA the last 3 years (WRC+ of 177, 156, 140) but only given a few ABs here and there in majors. Maybe he's a late career bloomer? Why not give it a shot? This is the downside of not trading Springer/Straw types is that it's a bit harder to find room but Jays can do it.

I'd also love to see Cameron up. He's been fantastic in Buffalo, albeit in a small sample size, but I have no interest in seeing Sanchez get any more at bats and think Daz could easily replicate that offence but also provide better defence and base running.

Sanchez is a terrible defender but he's been the Jays' best hitter this year (very sad I know) and if he plays only against righties, he is pretty valuable with a 123 WRC+. I could see him as a vs RHP DH next year (although Jays should also aim higher). It really should be Straw down but Jays won't do it for a variety of reasons but Straw has a 67 WRC+ which is 280/298th of all players with at least 200 PAs. Since June 1st, he has a WRC+ of 49. Jays absolutely shouldn't be bringing him back for $8M next year either so what's the benefit of giving him ABs?

By fangraphs Sanchez is a negatove value player because defense, & baserunning itself cancels out his offense. He's been less valuable than Bateman's 3 games (already 1 run on defense is encouraging for a full strong platoon/ def replacement full season performance).
Smithe has also been a posotive player by FG in his 6 games, which is fun.

FG has Sanchez being worth 0.1 WAR. It's BBRef that has him -0.5 WAR.

The Sanchez problem is simple. He and Lukes are the same offensive player. Both hit RHP well, neither can hit LHP, so need platoon partners. Can't see the Jays carrying 2 platoon partners to accommodate both.  Lukes is a plus defender and is much cheaper. Maybe Sanchez is tradeable, but he's definitely non-tenderable.

Johnny King being promoted to AA. He was dominant in A+ except horrible control. I'm sure they'll work on that more in AA.

At the same time, none of the Jays infielders need a platoon partner.
Part of the problem is not finding a right handed platoon bat.
None of the guys used hit lefties well.

It really depends on who replaces Springer.
Let say they sign Arozarena who has hits lefties for an .848 OPS over 8 years.
Then Sanchez can compete for the DH with Smith who would push Guerrero/Okamoto off the field.

Agreed about Cameron. I know John Schneider's idea of a platoon does not factor actual numbers (ex. if you're a RHB like IKF or Straw then you play against LHP regardless of what the numbers say), but the Jays need a RHB with even a remote ability to hit LHP. They want Davis Schneider to be that guy but he never has been. He's always seemed to hit RHP better except for a small sample this season. Not that I think Cameron is going to be any good, he probably wouldn't be, but I think it's a worth a gamble to see if you found something.

McAdoo with his ability to play 2B/3B/1B seems like a better fit for the roster than Josh Smith as well being a RHB. It's not easy to find RHB's anymore. This is the perfect time to see if something clicks.

The other problem with Sanchez is that they have the exact same player in AAA right now in Pinango. They are both platoon LHH DH's with negative defence and baserunning. I don't think that there is a spot for either on the roster next year but, if there is, take the player making the league minimum.

They have similarities as you mention, but Sanchez is just a better hitter and when hitting is your skill, that makes a big difference. Sanchez has a better WRC+ in the majors than Pinango does in AAA. Sanchez is good enough to be an OK VS RHP DH, Pinango isn't. I think they should move off Sanchez though (and can probably find a deal because he isn't making that much) because I think Jays should be more ambitious than OK where they can be.

For the DH conversation next year, it is fairly important to get Santander back in the line-up before the end of the year. Perhaps in 2027 Santander can be the primary DH while Springer bumps him to a corner where a right handed bat is required and bench one of the left-handed hitting outfielders.

I'll take George at DH next year again.

Not sure Cameron has the defensive chops for CF but given all our OF need platooning...

Old friend Casey Lawrence has opted out of his deal with the Mariners and is now a free agent; he's 38, but leads the minors in innings pitched this season and has a 4.37 ERA. He hasn't pitched in 5 days. I wonder if he's on his way to Toronto today.

Two Blue Jays pitching prospects are being promoted from high A to AA.

LHP Johnny King moves up after posting a 3.21 ERA with 112 Ks & 50 BB in 84 IP (as reported by
@_chaseford & since confirmed by John Schneider).

Also, RHP Daniel Guerra: 3.20 ERA, 78 Ks, 29 BB in 59 innings

Love these pitching promotions.

Super interesting reporting from The Athletic: both the Twins and Cubs were named as teams that were talking to the Jays about acquiring Jose Soriano after the Jays had traded for him on deadline day. The Athletic claims that the Twins were offering a package built around SS Kaelen Culpepper (who they just called up to the MLB) but the talks stalled after the Jays demanded that they would only continue listening if LHP Riley Quick was included as the second piece in the package.

Culpepper is generally ranked ~10-15 slots above Nimmala on most prospect lists and is MLB ready, so the Jays theoretically could have turned Nimmala into a more present piece and looked into moving Clement as well. Even without Riley Quick, I'd imagine that the "other pieces" from the Twins would have been more interesting than Eddie Micheletti and Angel Rivero.

The Jays obviously acquired Soriano to try to compete in 2027 and beyond so any scenario where they immediately traded him away was unlikely, but there was a good deal of talk on deadline day about other teams calling the Jays about him, so it must have been a consideration.

if both King and Guerra are moving up I HAVE to believe Thompson is bound for Buffalo soon. His regular turn falls on the same day as king and while he has gone on 4 days rest at least once AA hitters haven't molested him at all.

Also, more room for Messina in Vancouver!

And maybe also Samudio? He's got 54 K in 39.2 IP since the trade with a 3.63 ERA Walks are a bit high but that's not holding back other guys.

I suspect good or ill Gimenez is our SS for the next few years (signed for 27-29) by then JoJo Parker should be ready (maybe earlier) while Clement keeps 2B occupied. Thus Nimmela being expendable and the Jays not chasing hard for Culpepper. Guess they REALLY value defense.

Weird. I would assume those teams made offers to the Angels.

Maybe lighter offers? They decided to top the Jays offer, but the Jays wanted pitching at all cost.

Between Bateman and Southisene, perhaps the Jays are looking to corner the Thai prospect market.

Barriera is off to a great start through three perfect innings

Barriera's average velocity was only 92 mphh (max: 94) but he did have a nasty 38% whiff rate (powered mainly by the slider which generated 5 whiffs on 8 pitches thrown).

92 for a lefty isn't that bad.

Gage Stanifer came out of the bullpen tonight. Two innings, two walks, three K's.

wonder if that's just because they are jammed up this week with the promotions or a sign of things to come?

But I also wonder what they see in Olson. He has good ratios out of the 'pen (in AA) but je got rocked tonight. I'm not saying that to be snarky, I just mean I've heard no conversation about what he's got.
