I expect Varitek to win this poll going away and Posada to win the vote, but if one-fiftieth of what the CHW pitchers say about Pierzynski is true, he really does deserve the accolade.
I think Varitek is the obvious guy - Pudge and Posada are both having pretty sub-par years by their own standards anyway. Pierzynski, it turns out, has been a much bigger offensive upgrade than I expected. Much of it may simply be the switch from Pac Bell to US Cellular, but there's nothing like going from a park that hurts you to a park that helps you. He's been very good with the bat this year.
You know, it occurs to me that if this poll had been posted in pre-season using future tense, I would have very confidently selected Jason Kendall.
Very true, I would have expected Victor Martinez to build on last year's numbers and he hasn't really come anywhere close to duplicating them.
