We'll have to look back in 2009 and see who was right.  I'm in the minority who think we should have at the very least taken another arbitration year to see what's what with Overbay and our other options and the market and most likely had two cheaper arbitration years out of Overbay and then said so long, good luck, etc.

How do you figure we'd have gotten cheaper years out of his arb?

Look no further than Shea Hillenbrand type money AT LEAST during his last 2 arb years, who is a much lesser player than Overbay.

I meant cheaper in the sense that those are the cheaper years.  As in this is really a 2 year $5m/year deal during the arbitration time, which is about what he could get in arbitration, then a 2 year $7m/year deal during the first two years of FA.
