San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum is facing marijuana charges after being pulled over for speeding in his home state of Washington last week.  The 2008 National League Cy Young award winner is scheduled to appear in court in December.

Lincecum is in contention to repeat as the N.L.'s Cy Young award winner after going 15-7 with a 2.48 ERA.  He recently won Sporting News honours as the top pitcher in the National League, beating out the St. Louis duo of Adam Wainwright and Chris Carpenter

Lincecum and the Giants will be playing in Toronto in 2010 from June 18th to the 20th.  Let your buds know there are no 4:20 start times.  Hopefully, the Jays won't stink out the joint or have the series go to pot for them.  Please, no rehash of lame marijuana jokes or Kevin Phillips-Bong references.  Thanks!

If that isn't one of the best pictures of contrast I've ever seen... and yet both are among the very best at their profession.

I recall rumours about his enjoyment of pot around the time of Rios rumours. Apparently, one source was a close friend at UW. The idea was that the Giants were trying to get rid of a headache waiting to happen.

Whatever works, I suppose, I'd have him on my team any day - even with bloodshot eyes. Also, given that MLB tests for cocaine, are they testing for marijuana as well?

Is that Tim Lincecum or Wiley Wiggins from Dazed and Confused...the marijuana bust is all the more fitting...

This shouldn't even be a story, or at least one with any sort of ramifications..

Exactly, it obviously hasn't affected his performance.

I wonder if his teammates had any whiff of what was going on.

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milaukee Journal Sentinal, JJ Hardy has been traded to the Twins for Carlos Gomez.

This is a good news / bad news deal for the Jays.  The bad news is that JJ Hardy isn't an option any more.  The good news is there is a greater likelihood that Scutaro will yield compensation when he departs.  The bad news is that Scutaro will likely depart.

The Twins will hope this trade turns out better than the trade that brought Gomez to Minnesota and the trade that brought Delmon Young to Minnesota.  I'm not convinced it will.

Teahan to White Sox for Fields and Getz is apparently now official.

I have read on various sites that Boston was interested in JJ Hardy since the trade deadline.   Maybe just wasn't willing to offer value for value.   Hardy will be fine in Minnesota, a definite upgrade at SS and a better value than Gomez.   It's rarely who you get in a trade that matters, it's what ultimately what you have since the trade that counts.   The Twins were back in the post season again, that's what counts.
