All of the affiliates lost on Saturday. Three of them lost easily and the opponents registered double digits in hits. New Hampshire were the exception, they lost a tight one 2-1. Shane Dawson and Taylor Cole pitched OK. Tim Locastro had the only home run, an inside the park job.

Luoisville 5 Buffalo 2

Casey Lawrence was called up to make the emergency start, thatnks to the Jays calling up a couple of starters. Lawrence gave up nine hits and four runs in 6.1 innings. The hitters just had four hits, all singles.

New Hampshire 1 Binghamton 2

Taylor Cole had a decent start, he went five innings and gave up two runs. However he did only have one K. He is improving but not back to last years form yet. Danny Barnes continued his recovery, he pitched two shutout innings.

The hitters had seven hits, Jon Berti was the only hitter with two, and the only one with an extra base hit.

Dunedin 2 Clearwater 8

Brad Allen was bombed for seven runs in four innings. Alberto Tirado pitched three innings and gave up a run. So far this season Tirado has pitched 14.2 innings and in those innings he has given up 15 hits and five walks with 17 K's. The K's are good but you would like to see more hit avoidance, he probably needs to start working the corners of the plate a bit more but that can take time for a guy who has had commad problems.

Just five hits for the Jays, two for Derrick Loveless including a triple.

Bowling Green 10 Lansing 4

Shane Dawson pitched OK, he went five innings, gave up one run and took the loss. He has four hits allowed and four K's. The guys who followed him were tattoed, Carlos Ramirez, one inning, four hits, Colton Turner, two innings, six hits, Phil Kish, one inning, four hits.

Lansing scored three in the ninth to make the score look a little better. Anthony Alford, Ryan McBroon, Justin Atkinson and Tim Locastro each had two hits. Locastro had an inside the park home run and three RBI.

Excuse me if I post my minor comment about batting order about Sunday's Buffalo game against Louisville:

Today's lineup is CF Pompey 2B Burns 3B Hague 1B Colabello SS Nolan RF Glenn C Jimenez DH Schimpf LF Mesa

Instead, could this lineup be better than the one above,
CF Pompey 1B Colabello 3B Hague 2B Burns SS Nolan RF Glenn LF Mesa DH Schimpf C Jimenez

The top 3 hitters can get on base without sacrificing advantages on the basebags or basepath by bunting, walking, extra-base hits including home run, as they have played in MLB. The 4th to 6th hitters are MLB hitters in the making, which can link the performances from the top 3 hitters to the bottom third. Somehow, I feel difficult just to accept the convention of putting your best hitter in the cleanup slot: let the comparatively experienced hitters grind opponent pitching before good hitters in the making could feast on exposure before plate appearances.

Glenn's batting sixth is also interesting as his purpose in the 6th slot seems much less to create runs but to do other hitting roles right, such as slugging, getting on base, not striking out, putting ball in play for baserunning and/or basestealing etc. Glenn drove in all the runs in today's game. Instead of clutch performance, are these hitting roles parts of the identity for the 6th hitter ?

For Buffalo batting order, only Hague of the middle of the order remains. Is it time to promote Fox from and send Diaz to New Hamsphire ? For my part, is it appropriate for fans to comment on minor league transactions ?

vs R: Fox is the RBI guy. bench Mesa, Ochinko, Jimenez, Tolleson
CF Pompey (S)
2B Kawasaki (L)
DH Hague (R)
C  Fox (R)
1B Burns (R)
LF Gindl (L)
SS Nolan (R)
3B Schimpf (L)
RF Glenn (R)

Glenn can take his time in batting. Mesa and Fox could continue their AA batting performance to AAA with potent bats around them. Veterans like Kawasaki, Tolleson stay in the slots where they perform well or are out of the lineup.
