It looks like Baseball Almanac have already updated their list of players who have hit four home runs in one game. That was fast.

Baseball Almanac is a great site by the way, lots of fun just to browse. Some sample fun pages...

Stealing Home (look at the list and check out what player stole home plate 10 times in his career... and think about Ty Cobb's incredible 54 steals of home too).

I didn't realize that there have been more perfect games than four-homer games. Wow.

Ah, Rabbit Maranville. He's always been a favourite speedy middle infielder of mine. Can't help but think he was overrated in his day though. Carved 23 seasons out of a career OPS+ of 82, and finished second one year in NL MVP balloting with an OPS+ of 89.

I used to steal like heck with him on my Tony LaRussa baseball game.

As reported on TSN last night, here's more fun home run trivia:

Carlos hit his 100th career home run in 2 HR game, his 200th in a 3 HR game, and now his 300th in a 4 HR game.

At this rate, his 400th could be very special.

Going the other way: while, obviously, Carlos can't have hit his 0th career home run in a 1 HR game, he did hit his 1st home run in a 1 HR game - according to Retrosheet, he hit his first on April 4, 1994 off Dennis Cook.

And if you look at just the years in which he hit them, it took him 4 years to reach 100, three years for 200, and two years for 300. I'll let others extrapolate from there.

Oh, what fun numbers can be!
