A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.

Better late than never, as I always try to explain to my bosses.

  1. First up, good friend of the Box Will Carroll has one of his famous Team Health Reports available for free today. The best part: Today's THR is on the Jays! Enjoy. (Thanks to Gitz for the heads up)

  2. Another good friend of the Box Spencer Fordin of MLB.com is taking a well deserved Easter break. Fordin's put up a number of great articles this week, though, so check out the official site if you haven't been there in a few days.

  3. In "Jays' offence raising questions: Barnett tracking `out front' outs — and there are lots" Allan Ryan of the Star points out that only two Jays teams have ever started 0-3: The 53-109 1979 Jays, and the 86-76 2003 Jays. Both teams won their fourth game, so we all hope history repeats itself. Well, maybe not the 53-109 part. That'd suck.

  4. The Jays are "Searching for a kick-start". If a kick-start is anything like my keys, it's probably on top of the fridge.

  5. Mike Rutsey wonders if the "Jays' youth [is] showing?". Possibly, but sometimes good teams start the year 0-3.

Today's game is at 3:05. Lilly vs. Arroyo and the Red Sox. Any predictions?

Sorry this took so long to get up. Slept in, then had a meeting with the driving range. Golf and baseball.. gotta love spring!

Plus, the Sox played a 13 inning game last night so the bullpen could be tired. If the Jays jumped on the Sox and got into the pen early tonight it could be a good weekend.

Man, losing to the Tiggers really has us grasping at straws (hands outstrected)

The Red Sox picked up Jon Stephens on waivers from Baltimore. I would have liked to have seen the Jays grab him as he still had an option left. He has put up amazing numbers throughout his minor league career though I am not sure where he fits in the Red Sox's plans though.

The Sox' pen was exhausted in all sense of the word. Not only did they run through everybody not named Mendoza, but they left spot-duty Bobby Jones in there for 2+ innings. Not looking good for us today against you guys, that is for sure.

Four images from April 6th's game are now up in my gallery at aaronreynolds.ca (COMN). Pardon the lousy scans of the two colour images -- I'll have time to put up better ones in the middle of next week, but for now you can get a taste of what I was able to capture.

Darrin Fletcher and Warren Cromartie will split the job as analyst on The Score's Expos telecasts this year.

COMN -- Forbes has the estimated worth of all MLB teams. Your 2004 Toronto Blue Jays are 27th, ahead of only the Twins, D-Rays, and Expos. NY-Bos are 1-2.

As speculated, the Jays have indeed claimed reliever Mike Nakamura off waivers from the Twins. COMN - Rotoworld says he'll go to Syracuse.

The Washington Times reports that Washington is willing to fully finance a public stadium in order to acquire the Expos. It has the backing of the mayor and other officials.

Great pictures, Aaron. Really like the bat rack shot. Those were also the first up-close images I'd seen of the Jays' new uniforms. I'm not a big fan of the logo but I can accept it, the uniforms on the other hand...Do they expect people to buy those jerseys? It looks as though they were silk screened on to a T-Shirt 15 minutes before the game. With an all-around savy front office I'd have thought there would be a far more appealing outfit -- especially given their attempts to appeal to the 18-35 demographic. Being 18-35, I can say with a substantial amount of confidence, my friends won't be rushing out to pick up that merchandise.
