That's right, everyone's favourite pink-haired economist is in Toronto this week. Who's up for a get-together before Sunday's game?

We were looking at an early lunch at Spring Rolls at their Front Street location, which is about a dozen minutes from the Dome by foot. Their website has directions and a map. It's pretty easy to find.

If you're interested in coming out to hang and eat, RSVP here so I can make an appropriately-sized reservation.

Ah, Pink-Haired Economist ... didn't they used to open for Dexy's Midnight Runners?

Ironically enough, "Hot Fun in Black Bean Sauce" was the big B-side single for Pink-Haired Economist, as I recall. But the '80's are such a blur.

David Pinto had an interesting comment on Hentgen over at Baseball Musings:

"A big difference for Pat is his situational pitching this year. In 2003, his batting average allowed was .242 with the bases empty, .254 with men on. This season, it's .228 with the bases empty, but .343 with men on. And what's worse, it's with men on that he gets hit for power. The slugging percentage against Hentgen is .407 with the bases empty, but .593 with men on. Power hitting scores runners."

I never even noticed this; it's quite interesting. Can anyone think of a reason that his numbers all jump when a runner gets on?

Generally I chalk those things up to luck, but perhaps he's doing something wrong from the stretch or is just effective in a windup.

Oops, sorry for putting that comment in this thread. For some reason, I thought this was the game thread. o_O

I knew the game thread was up earlier than normal.

What time should we meet up at? We'll want enough time to get to the Dome and get tickets, so maybe we should show up at opening, 11:00?

I think I'll make my first appearance as well (as long as Moffatt doesn't veto me!). I'm in.

OK, so thus far we've got about six people coming to the brunch. I realized that tomorrow is Bat Day, so we should probably get to the Dome somewhat earlyish, so an 11:00 start for brunch is ideal.

Mrs. Hank reports that the bat looks really good -- she saw it on TV.
