If anyone needs some Photo of the Day mojo right now, it's Gregg Zaun. I didn't see the collision on TV, but it sounded pretty bad from Jerry, Warren and Mike's descriptions of it.

Get well soon, Gregg. Your pitchers need you.

Spencer Fordin's article has the video of the play. It isn't pretty.

I'm concerned on two fronts.

Obviously I am wishing Greg well, and hope he's up and going soon, with no long term effects....

but assuming he is, I'm concerned about the Jays catcher position now... They'll need to bring in a backup as a minimum, and he'll probably need to play some games...

Yikes!

The Jays called up slugger Andy Dominique from Syracuse after they put Zaun on the DL. Is there any tread left on the Benito Santiago tire? The Pirates just released him.

My first thought yesterday afternoon,
"Does JP have Greg Myers' number on speed-dial?"

That collision did look pretty bad. Best of luck Bigg Z, hope to see you back on the field soon.

Is there any tread left on the Benito Santiago tire?

I thought the tire was tread-bare 7 years ago, when he was last here. He did seem to recover well from his car accident and has been not terrible for a number of years. But he's 40 now. Even as a stop gap, is the well so dry that he's a legitimate option? (That's not rhetorical. Sadly, the answer might be yes.)

It was great to see Zaun sitting down on the Bench, hes on the 15 Day DL, and reportedly told a reporter he'd love to play tommorrow if he wasn't on the DL.

He looked pretty good, and this is definately encouraging.
