Bring on the brand new Renaissance
Cause I think I'm ready
I've been shaking all night long
But my hands are steady

Barry Zito beat Mark Buehrle for the second time in a week. I was just talking about how well Zito had been pitching in this space; yesterday, he was outstanding. I'm a Zito booster, and I said this winter that Beane held on to the right guy. Every now and then I almost get one right, and I like to savour the moments...

Terry Francona confirmed that Roy Halladay had been his choice to start the All-Star Game. Buehrle looked like the obvious alternative, and actually pitched a pretty decent game yesterday.

Did any of you see the catch Luis Matos of the Orioles made, reaching over the CF wall and stealing a HR from David Ortiz? Best outfield catch I've seen this season.

The Yankees and Braves both had their winning streaks broken off at six. See - yesterday I was talking about how well both teams were playing. So they both go out and lose. This is my life.

Loved this blurb at ESPN: "Rockies win lowest-scoring game in Coors history, 1-0." I'm thinking that's the same final from the lowest scoring game in the history of lots of parks. What happened yesterday was the first 1-0 game in Coors history. Took long enough.

Yes Zito is suddenly Hip again but it would take 3 Pistols to get him out of Oakland now.

Raffy Palmeiro needs three hits to join the ultra-exclusive 3000 hits and 500 home run club.

Zach Jack gave up a homer to Shin-Soo Choo in the third inning of the Future's game. He retired Yuniesky Betancourt before that and Kendry Morales and Nelson Cruz after.
