Talk about catchers got me to thinking about the 2004 draft.  Landon Powell, Kurt Suzuki, Curtis Thigpen and Chris Iannetta were some of the names bandied about.  Powell had surgery in 2005, but has come on strong in double A this year, and may yet make a career of it.  Suzuki is stalled a bit in triple A and Iannetta's had a rough start to 2007 after a promising debut in 2006.

So, who is going to have the best among these four?  With my record to date on catcher prognostication, I'm staying out of it.

Judging by the lack of playing time for Thigpen behind the plate, it's hard to say whether the Jays really still see him as a catcher in the majors.

The GCL Jays lost 7-2 today.  The lineup (other than pitchers) was all under the age of 20.  Eiland, Ahrens, House and Talley debuted today with only Ahrens managing a hit.  Canadian Kyle Cuthbertson took the loss.
